pickI'm enjoying the series so far. In this book, Bina and her best friend want to start a band. They find a drummer. Her friend falls in love with the drummer and things go wrong really quick now that Bina is a third wheel... Also her neighbor who has been friends with her forever is in love with her but she doesn't feel the same way. Really great graphics and a wonderful story.
The day of the birth of the queens who would come to be known as Mirabella, Arsinoe, and Katharine was still, unremarkable and without omens. There was no great wind to howl the arrival of an elemental queen.

Picked up this #bookhaul (and a journal) at my local bookstore today. My bookshelves are getting… a tad overcrowded. I really need to get myself to read more books I already own, so hopefully I can donate some and make room!
pickThis chapter really shows how important it is for students to develop strong, reliable reading skills beyond just quick reading and skimming. With so much reading going on online (that is not often taken into account as real reading), teenagers sometimes miss out on deep understanding and critical thinking. It makes you realize how we need to focus more on teaching meaningful and engaged reading to prepare them for realistic challenges.
I find it interesting and a little ironic that young adult literature is thriving while many still claim young adults aren't reading. This shows how the issue isn‘t just a lack of reading, but is a disconnect between what adults define as “real” reading and what young people want to read. I believe that if we give students more choice and let them read what‘s relevant to their lives when we can, they‘ll be more motivated and confident readers.
