Every day I bring home a baguette, and maybe some meat & vegetables if I‘ve run out, and I have a sandwich while I listen to a couple stories from the tagged book. One of today‘s was an intense Warchild-universe story by Karin Lowachee.
Today‘s baguette came from a bakery established in 1889. It was good, but the less established shop around the corner from me does a better one. #audiocooking

pickReceived to review! A lovely and tender book, though it's deeply bittersweet as well. Loved the biology lab stuff, the commentary on culture and family and how to be good to one another, how to support someone in their choices, etc. Fun how they go from prickly to sweet with each other.
Warning: though it's a romance, it's a “Happy For Now“ rather than a “Happy Ever After“ -- we don't know what will happen later on.

I‘m packing for an Airbnb stay in a national forest & my overpacking demons are having it out. I‘m trying to NOT pack these books. I‘m bringing a kindle but won‘t have WiFi. I‘m such a mood reader - what if I don‘t have a book for whatever mood I find myself in? Agghh
pickI really, really loved this book. I‘ve been talking about it nonstop here, but I‘m gonna rave a little more. Based in Sanskrit and Indian mythologies, epic and sweeping, insightful and action-packed, this is what Fantasy is meant to be. I was immersed in a new world, filled with gods and gurus and princes and soldiers and strong women. I‘m so glad I randomly grabbed this at the library and I can‘t wait for the sequel next spring. 5👍🏼
I only have 300 more pages and this is normally where I end up bailing on #chunksters because I get bored. But! This story is just getting more intriguing and expansive and I don‘t want to put it down. I‘ve been momming with this open on my lap or tucked under my arm all day to sneak a sentence here and there, I‘m obsessed.
I know I keep talking about this book, but it‘s 600+ pages and I‘m not even at the halfway point, so get used to it! 😉
I came on here to say that this story is nutso in the best possible way, and I am SO IN LOVE.
Seriously, if you‘re looking for something truly original and fresh and mind bending and EPIC, give this one a try.
Oh. And it‘s the first in a series, so there‘s so much to look forward to.
