Starting off #JubilantJuly by listening to The Evening and The Morning.

A big book, which I am already 1/3 of the way through, but I still have over 16 hours of it to listen to.

TheSpineView Enjoy! 1y
Andrew65 @TheSpineView Thanks, am enjoying it. A big book though. 1y
CoverToCoverGirl I love this series. This was my favourite, so far. 1y

Started listening to The Evening and The Morning, the prequel in the superb Kingsbridge Series. At 24.33 hours it might take a while. Decided to re-read the whole Series. Hoping it will help me get back in a reading flow.

Can‘t wait for the new book to be published in September.

Cuilin I‘m looking forward to new book too. Loved this prequel. Sorry you‘re having a reading slump. I hate when that happens. 1y
CoverToCoverGirl I love Follett! I can‘t wait either.. 1y
TheSpineView This is a fabulous series!💙📖📚 1y

Tove_Reads Wow! Was thinking about doing the same 😊 You‘ve been in a slump as well 🙁🤦🏼‍♂️🙁 I remember when we pretty much didn‘t sleep during the time we read these books some years back 🤣 1y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads Yep wall to wall reading it was. Never remember a slump this bad. Like a stuttering car I get going again then grind to a halt. 1y
Tove_Reads A proper book depression then. Horrrible feeling! I usually need a quicker read to get out of one. And a fantastic one. Coben? Or a new series that‘ll draw you in. Ooh, Cork O‘Connor by William Kent Krueger! 1y
Andrew65 @Tove_Reads That is what I am trying, not helped by a lot of issues I‘ve had to help resolve at a school I was working with. Taken up all my brain power. Trying to build it day by day at the moment. It‘s finding the right new series. I‘m scouting books with red coats on the cover. 😂 (edited) 1y
Andrew65 @Cuilin @covertocovergirl @TheSpineView he always writes such great books. 1y

@Eggs 🤗🤩😍

1. My challenges are going so-so. Still trying to trudge through WAR AND PEACE for #Chunksters, still caught on last month's #AuthoraMonth. Finished (and loved) OLD FANCIES & NEW FRIENDS with the #pemberlittens. However, my actual #TBR shelf just sits there. I think I'm going to have to give up some challenges if I want to shorten my books on the shelves.
2. Time to whittle down my books on the shelves.

suvata Holy guacamole! Impressive. 2y
Clwojick @5feet.of.fury the first one was my least favourite, but still enjoyable. The second was my favourite, and the third following shortly after that. I definitely preferred Rhys‘ story to Tamlin‘s. ❤️ 2y

I completely forgot to update on Monday. I finished Demon Copperhead and David Copperfield, a result in itself #chunksters
Bailed on An intro to English poetry 😴
Still dipping into Holly McNish's delicious anthology and the tagged.
I did get distracted by 2 excellent #Netgalley reads Weyward and The wheel of the year.

All on all, a success. Although the journal still awaits 🙈

@Andrew65

Andrew65 That‘s brilliant, well done 👏👏👏🙌🍾🥂🥳🥰 I think we all get distracted at times 🤷‍♂️ 2y

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join in if you want!

#ABookADay2023

dabbe I have read all of these, and they are WONDERFUL! Matthew Shardlake is the detective (actually a lawyer) with a hunched back (which is important in the books). The stories take you through the dissolution of the monasteries under Henry VIII's reign all the way through the Tudor line. Fascinating history + mystery + detective = 🙌! These would probably qualify as #Chunksters, too! 🤣 2y
TheEllieMo @dabbe I‘ve read Dark Fire, and loved it, but for some unknown reason, for which I have no excuse, I haven‘t got around to reading any of the other books in the Shardlake series, despite loving mystery novels and the Tudor period, and in particular the Dissolution, being a period of history that has fascinated me for a long time. I didn‘t have this series in my #SeriesLove2023 list but I‘m going to add it now, I think this one will be my next read 2y
dabbe They are huge books, and there are 7 of them! ❣️ I might have to go back and reread at some point because they truly take you out of the here and now. I should have used the term “hunched“, but that's how Shardlake himself describes his condition, yet still ... sorry about that. 🫢 2y

Here are some of my chunksters waiting to be read!

Tove_Reads Yes!!!! 2y
Andrew65 Child of the Phoenix and Kingdom of Shadows are two of my favourite all-time books, along with Lady of Hay (not pictured). I would be more than happy to read them again and still have my copies. Love Barbara Erskine. Think I have a copy of Green Darkness and Hiding From the light too.

I don‘t own them but like the look of the other two.
2y
EadieB @Andrew65 ok I‘ll read them together with you just let me know when. @Tove_Reads (edited) 2y
