We saw this at the bookstore a few weeks ago and Jace wouldn‘t stop talking about so I finally had to order it from Amazon. At least he has good taste! A nice mini Beatles biography and a great way to introduce them to children. 5⭐️ #Jace #Beatles #biography #littlegoldenbook

Lovely book. Background information from Paul McCartney on the context of these pictures he took. Great photographs in a very exciting time for The Beatles.

Yellow Submarine | The Beatles
post image

I love The Beatles. They were my first musical hyperfocus. I listened to the albums on repeat and read every biography I could put my hands on. But I loathe the song Yellow Submarine. It's such an awful ear worm!

TieDyeDude I'm not big on the Beatles, and that is still on the bottom of the list for me 😅

“Thanks“ for playing 😉

Bookwomble ? Dissing The Beatles! ? I need to have a lie down! ? This was one of my favourite songs as a kid, though I sang it as "Yellow Sumbarine". I love it for its absurdist humour, typical of the era, and which often comes through from John, particularly, in band interviews. Different strokes... ? 6mo
CSeydel @Bookwomble Ouch. I‘m with you on this one 🍏💛 6mo

CSeydel @bookwomble 🌊🌊When my kids were small, all five of us got up at the wedding of my husband‘s college friend and sang Yellow Submarine on karaoke! So I particularly love it (edited) 6mo

Is it cheating to use the same book for two months? 😂

This book is packed with information and I‘m taking my time and savoring it, trying to absorb the cultural moment that Gould is describing. It requires my full attention (meaning I‘m not reading it in quick hits throughout the week) as it combines history, sociology, psychology, musicology, biography, and cultural analysis. Incredibly written and, at times, hilarious. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I, Me, Mine | George Harrison
Pickpick

I love George Harrison‘s songs. He‘s really romantic. His writing is so good that I wish the book was longer, but at the same time is still felt complete. I found deep tracks that I didn‘t know and liked. He has photos of his notes for his songs with the original writing. I highly reccomend it!

John Lennon: The Life | Philip Norman
post image
Mehso-so

Is the goal of a good biography to be objective? Is that even possible? Of course Norman wrote this after John‘s death, so he was dependent on interviews with people who knew him and his journals. Yoko refused to endorse this book because she said the author was “too mean” to John. Maybe that‘s true and he chose to slant it that way, or maybe based on some of John‘s actions, especially towards women, he was just trying to tell the truth. 🎶/5

TrishB It‘s sometimes hard for anyone to see past the cult of John. Hence the being mean. He did not treat women well (or his son!) - he was human. 8mo
