This fun anthology of humorous pieces about living with dogs is a great read for dog lovers. I didn‘t shed any tears, but did lots of chuckling and recognized my own bitches in many of these essays. #Bindi #Greta #dogsofLitsy

What‘s not to love about the Murderbot series? The latest is a satisfying installment, and I loved the conclusion to this one.

The Bitch is ostensibly a story of a woman and the dog she adopts, but really it is exploring deeper themes of loss and betrayal. Overall I thought it was good but not great and I‘m frustrated by the abrupt ending.

Yona‘s job is to create itineraries for disaster tourism. She ends up on a tour offered by her company and things go a bit sideways. This is a truly unique book with lots of social commentary. I really enjoyed it.

A mysterious, mystical antiquity is stolen from a Tibetan monastery and secreted onto a lavish ocean liner, where it wreaks havoc. Wildly unrealistic and pure entertainment, this is exactly what I was looking for after a heavy read about genocide.

In 1993 in eastern #France, a man killed his parents, wife, and two children. Shortly thereafter virtually his entire life was revealed to be a lie. This book tells his story and should be great with such good material, but the pacing is off, it didn‘t hold my interest well, and the ending sort of trickles off. A missed opportunity.

The majority of this book is a solid, eye-opening look at the author‘s reality of living with schizoaffective disorder. While I can‘t quite relate to her experiences, I do feel closer to understanding them, I think. The final 2 chapters weaken the book by veering a bit far (including the “spiritual arts” and I don‘t mean religion) out of the mainstream, but an otherwise excellent book.

Brit Susan and American Ollie meet by chance in 1940, when she is working with the National Pigeon Service to deploy her homing pigeons into German-occupied France. This book illustrates an interesting bit of history about which I knew nothing, and I enjoyed it. It‘s definitely a flawed first novel that I could nitpick, but it‘s worth reading.
