It's refreshing to be back in the novella-length Murderbot adventures, even though it took me a ridiculous amount of time to figure out that Book 6 actually takes place before Book 5. This one feels more like a crime drama with an overlay of sci-fi, but it's all good.

I am almost finished this series and I want to cry, I'm not ready for it to be over. 😭

I liked this one. Lil murder mystery vibes in with the sci-fi, more lighthearted than the previous 2, but good insight into Murderbot‘s mounting frustrations in Network Effect

I love being in Murderbot‘s world! I was a little thrown that this one skipped back in time, so if you‘re reading the series for the first time I might change up the order and read this as the 5th installment not the 6th.

I'm just about finished the last and latest Murderbot book! 😭 I love this series so much and I don't want it to end! ❤️

This installment finds Murderbot working with a Preservation Station security team. It mostly involves a new cast of characters, instead of Mensa and the regular crew. It‘s like a Murderbot Holmes standalone mystery - a dead body is discovered and it helps solve the crime. Less interpersonal relationship development and more of seeing Murderbot win over folks who are wary of SecUnits. Really good. Every single book in this series is so solid.

Another wonderful Murderbot story. I like how Murderbot is adapting to its new role with the humans and seeing how the humans are slowly trusting and appreciating its help. The murder mystery aspect of this one was fun.

4/5⭐ Funny and fast-paced as always. I liked it a lot, but it's probably my least favorite Murderbot story. The chronology threw me at the beginning (it takes place before the previous story) and it doesn't have quite the same zing as the others. However, it was nice to see more of Murderbot's time on Preservation, and the mystery was a refreshing departure from the larger plot arc in the series.

I love this series. Book 5 (although published order book 6) is a who-dun-it SciFi style with Murderbot as the detective.

Kicking off the second half of the reading bracket with the most recent installment of the Murderbot Diaries (is anyone shocked lol)! I sped through the whole series and this one is my favorite so far. I

Mostly I‘m feeling sad right now that I have finally read all of the published Murderbot books and now I have to wait… Martha Wells (and Murderbot) is a gift!

Murderbot, the bad ass with sass, once again roped into rescuing squishy humans, eventually, but first, much repartee with and demonstration of skill for the cranky, mistrustful ones. But it does have allies and that gives me the warm fuzzies.

Another cool installment of a great series… but this was just filler, and it felt a bit empty, especially after the last one. The 5th book was so thorough and interesting and it ended with so many open possibilities…I was rly expecting #6 to pick things back up and take the main story somewhere. But you‘ve guessed it- I was wrong. It‘s still a solid lil story tho!

I love the feeling of being all caught up on a series, and this is an extremely entertaining one. Murderbot forever.

I do so love Murderbot, and here we have a Murderbot murder mystery—thoroughly delightful. I enjoyed following Murderbot as it navigated interactions on Preservation Station, both with humans and other bots. I did want a bit more of the relationships that have been developing over the rest of the series, but that‘s a minor complaint. And now I‘m up to date on the series…until the next book is released this fall! #SeriesLove2023

Stepping outside of the original series, Murderbot is back!
When a stranger is found murdered on Preservation Station, Murderbot grudgingly volunteers to help station security to investigate who was killed and who was the killer. Fearing GrayCris was responsible and was coming after Dr. Mensah next, Murderbot pulls out all the stops to find the answer.

Murderbot is back! If you liked murderbot inner musings, desire to get back to watching media, and general saving the day, pick this up.

If none of that made sense, start with All Systems Red. The series is about a SecUnit (heavily armed cyborg construct?) named Murderbot that has gone rogue and is ungovernable... And they just want to watch TV. Unfortunately work + wanting to do a good job gets in the way. They're all fun & quick reads.

This was my least favorite of the series. The new characters didn‘t really add anything and the already established characters didn‘t do anything to set apart their actions from the previous books. Overall, this one felt like a mashup of plot points from the other books rather than an original story.

I am really going to miss Murderbot. This feels out of chronological order as the prior book was on ART and this one is set on Preservation Station. Also, Dr Bharadwaj‘s project was only mentioned in passing and without much explanation in Network Effect. This was good but without the intensity of the other books.

My favorite "F" book is Fugitive Telemetry by Martha Wells

A couple of other books are very close:
1. For We Are Many by Dennis E. Taylor (part of the We Are Bob series) Great space opera if you enjoy those.
2. The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson (part of the Mistborn series)

Working protection for Dr. Mensa on Preservation Station, Murderbot gets roped into helping investigate an unusual murder on the station.

Set before the novel, which mixed me up until I realized. But another utterly charming addition! Murderbot‘s complete reluctance to acknowledge friendships continues to be so funny, the murder story was twisty. & the voice of these stories is so unique, I could probably identify a random paragraph. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗

Whoever came up with slightly-rough-to-the-touch dust jacket paper is a genius. Now I hope the other books in the series have the same dust jacket paper.

@julesG mentioned that this comes before Network Effect in Murderbot‘s timeline, so I grabbed a copy from the library. FT is another great adventure and Murderbot just gets funnier. I love the sarcasm, and this was a clever mystery

Argh, so fun. Back to the novella length and leaves you wanting more. I‘ve now finished all the published murderbots and have turned around to start right back at book one. These books are fabulous. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had also been helping Ratthi with the data analysis for his survey reports, and he was trying to convince me that could be a job I could do for other researchers. Which, sure, I mean, it could. If I wanted to be almost as bored as when a lot of my job had been standing in one place unable to move and staring at a wall.

I guess murderbot won't be on researchjobs.com then...

I LOVE MURDERBOT! And all the bots at the end! 😍😭 Kevin R. Free did a fantastic job narrating. However, listening made me anxious sometimes and I feel like I couldn‘t follow as well as usual, so I think I‘ve completed my audiobook quota for the year. 😂 It‘s kind of funny because I don‘t have this problem with podcasts.

I‘ve said it before and I‘ll probably say it again: I am not an audiobook person. But when I found out that Kevin R. Free narrates the Murderbot audiobooks, I had to give it a shot. I needed to read the latest book anyway!

It‘s a murder mystery. In space. With rogue sapient bots. And sarcasm. And swearing. Pretty entertaining and an entirely unique mc. Audio narrator was great, too. Thanks for the Rec @BkClubCare

I love Murderbot and I love mysteries, so this fourth novella in the series was perfect for me. A body is found on the normally murder-free Preservation station and Sec Unit aka Murderbot is tasked to assist the humans in investigating.

Glad I'm finally getting to this one! There are a couple of brief moments so far that make me think a whole book of Murderbot hanging out with Ratthi and Gurathin would be hilarious.

I love good novellas, especially when they can tell a full story, get you attached to the characters, and end the story too. Fugitive Telemetry is a Murderbot murder mystery and now they have been signed up to helping solve a murder they were kind of accused of committing. The character dynamic in this one opened up emotions we haven't gotten to see yet from Murderbot, especially the desire to fit in. I loved it and want so many more!

I am so sad to have reached the end of the Murderbot books - A snarky, depressed, anti social, sentient killer robot who just wants to be left alone so they can binge watch shows but instead keeps getting into dangerous situations and needing to save humans. These brought me all the scifi joy!

The beauty of this novella was watching Murderbot earn respect and a myriad of trust from humans. Of course, Mensah‘s crew knows to trust Murderbot, but everyone else judges it by sight. I also appreciate the fact that Martha Wells doesn‘t treat being an introvert like a character flaw. Instead, she embraces it and shows how it can be an asset. #scifi

I have been waiting for a couple of months and admit I get annoyed with those ahead of me who check out books and then dawdle. Read and return the hot books! People are waiting!!! Plus, I have heard this is a quick read; come ON. I have been NEXT on the list for 2 weeks and it estimates another 2 weeks? Sigh.

I just love this series so much! Murderbot never fails to make me laugh out loud. I'm not sure what is says about me that I see myself in a snarky and antisocial AI, who calls himself Muderbot, but here we are. I can't wait for the next one to come out!

Another enjoyable read - set before the events of book 5 (which I haven‘t read yet) Murderbot joins a murder investigation - with some reluctance as a SecUnit‘s presence isn‘t particularly welcome and an investigation like this really cuts into time that could be spent watching the entertainment feeds.

I have a friend who is a big fan of Murderbot, so when one of the series came up on Audible‘s Daily Deals I went for it.
The sarcastic internal dialogue was so damn funny. This was a great story, I just wish it was a little longer. I‘ve put the rest of the series on hold at the library. I think I jumped in at book six, but it was still a good stand alone.

I loved this so much! This just cements Murderbot as being one of my all time favorite characters. The mystery was fun, the snark was great and I really loved spending more time with Murderbot. The only downside is the confusing timeline. This was published after the novel Network Effect, but actually, chronologically, takes place before Network Effect. So you would need to read this before the novel if you want to follow the timeline.
