When they arrive home, Mrs. Hale had some sort of attack or seizure. Dr. Donaldson gives her an opiate to calm her attack, and Mr. Hale finds out she is dying. He starts to cry and the dr. tells him to act like a Christian.🙄He tells Margaret to go to the Thornton‘s👇

jenniferw88 The mysterious illness is really bugging me, so I googled it today and most people think it might be some form of cancer. 2y

MicrobeMom @jenniferw88 omg… yes. It is killing me. I think cancer makes the most sense. My guess it has spread to her brain if she is having seizure. But I keep seconding guessing if it something else. 2y
inthegreensandblues Who knew there were waterbeds in the 1850s? I was glad my edition had a note for it because I wasn't sure it was the same thing as my parents had in the 1980s. ? It does say it's an "early reference" and they were for invalids. 2y
Julsmarshall I‘m thinking cancer too. The waterbed thing had me curious too. And odd that Margaret apparently walked though a about-to-erupt mob and didn‘t notice 🤷🏻♀️ 2y
