The only way to describe reading this book is to say I was completely swept away. An independent and fierce heroine during a time when women were recruited to join the war efforts of WWII and then told to go back to the kitchen once the war was over. Alix is everything I would‘ve hoped for myself had I been born back then and everything I hope for my own daughter even now. Book #4 in 2024

This was such an entertaining read about a designer I have always been drawn to creativity wise. Truly interesting to read this and learn about him through his own words. #bookspin @TheAromaofBooks

I absolutely adored this little book!

This book was written by Christian Dior in 1954 so naturally parts are outdated. For example, there is a lot of discussion on frocks.

That being said, there is still relevant advice. The overall theme of the book is elegance and accentuating what makes you look good, which is still useful in today‘s world.

23 #9 This book was slow. But I did finally become invested enough in the characters to care about the ending.

This was an astonishing read! I loved how Lester weaved in fashion and the beginning of Christian Dior into this historical WWII fiction book. It‘s amazing how you forgot the “fiction” aspect of this story until you read the Author Note and get to peek behind the curtain to find out what was real and what was altered or made up. I don‘t think it‘s one I would re-read, so maybe a #borrowdontbuy - but worth reading 👍

I had mixed feelings about this book. It's an interesting and beautifully illustrated historic fiction graphic novel. If you're into fashion history, you'll probably want to give this one a read. I didn't love that the book didn't come with any kind of introduction to help orient the readers to the historic setting or characters, so I had to Google whether the main character was a real person (she wasn't).
