The Moon-Spinners | Mary Stewart
post image

I just finished another exciting Mary Stewart novel! Even better: I was able to do the buy-book-read-book thing so quickly that the $0.99 sale is still in effect and I can urge y‘all to grab it if you‘re in the mood for a Cretan adventure with great tension. It‘s from 1962, so there‘re a couple dodgy bits, but nothing awful enough to destroy my enjoyment.

We also learned about the Theory of Chaos where small actions can have a large impact on complex systems over time. I got a feeling we‘ll be using this theory more often. I‘m not going to make a discussion out of it, but I want us all to think about the previous books we have read and think about where the Theory of Chaos may apply. #theoryofchaos #history #europe #europeanhistory #normandavies #cnossos #mycenae #crete #prehistory

A reread; I do like to do a reading deep-dive before holidays, so I‘m seeking out the 🇬🇷 stories. The writing was a bit more flowery and overdone than I remembered, but still a solidly good read.

This was a different type of mystery, with elements that confused me (though I‘ve been reading this for a few months with breaks, so I may have forgotten why certain things happen). Truelove reminds me of Amelia Peabody, though I like Peabody a bit more. The ghost of Queen Victoria speaking to Truelove was odd. So-so book for me.

This book was great. A mix of modern mystery and greek mythology.

Here's the thing with this book - It's a simplified version of some things we can try to implement to increase our functional potential. It does not address all the obstacles that hinder each individual from achieving their goals with nutrition or fitness. The advice is not for everyone depending on your goals or situation. It's one guy's opinion based on his experience and basic-level research, nothing more. ⬇️ (Cont'd in comments) ⬇️

jitteryjane724 HOWEVER, after reading this book I do feel more inspired to find smart ways to challenge and exceed my current limitations. And that is enough for me to recommend this book. 3y

The last time I read this I knew nothing about anatomy, kinesiology, or strength&endurance training. Now I have a doctorate in something related to that...looking forward to re-reading (and learning) from a different perspective this time (and I always love a good inspirational book)!
