I eyed this book for a while before checking it out. It is full of good advice, for how to live a long time. ‘Blue Zones‘ are areas where peoplx live to 100 or more; this is due to surroundings, environment, nutrition, routine, movement, social interaction. There are 5 zones: Sardinia, Italy; Nicoya, Costa Rica; Loma Linda, CA; Ikaria, Greece; Okinawa, Japan; and Singapore. Each chapter focuses on a zone and lays out the way the community⬇️

JenniferEgnor lives there. There are a few recipes, and the last chapters are a 101 for how to create your own zone. Singapore has some great things in place for its community. The guidelines are all good (minus a need for religion) and should be a cornerstone for every community. The idea is to reconnect with each other and with what the earth gives us, while giving back. A capitalist system will not work with these values. The last chapter has 9⬇️ 3mo
JenniferEgnor guidelines to live by. 1) Move Naturally ; 2) Purpose ; 3) Downshift ; 4) 80% Rule ; 5) Plant Stant ; 6) Wine@5 ; 7) Belong ; 8) Loved Ones First 3mo

JenniferEgnor There is a Netflix documentary about this topic called ‘Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones‘. I‘m going to watch it and I want to read more on the blue zones and try the recipes from the other books. This is an inspiring book for reconnecting, well being, aging well, living well. Really living. (edited) 3mo

Deblovestoread I follow her on Instagram but haven‘t read her book yet. I really like her science based approach but got a little turned off when she started selling her “anti-spike” product. 5mo
jenniferw88 @Deblovestoread I'm diabetic, and I'm going to start some of the hacks, as I found them fascinating. There were also a couple of pudding recipes that I wanted to try—especially the Eton Mess with Cacao Nibs one, as I thought meringues would be a no-no for me. She wears a CGM, and I've just started wearing one myself, so I'm learning what works for me, and it's provided some ideas. 5mo

Came outside to read in the sun and both furry freeloaders are trying to take my towel, I don‘t mind 🥰
Update: Yes she seems snooty but I learned a lot from her, I‘m tired of yo-yoing 20lbs and wished I knew how to cook French and eat like a French woman. Drink lots of water!!

Mediterranean Diet Cookbook For Dummies | Meri Raffetto, Wendy Jo Peterson

I don‘t think I‘ve read books in the “for dummies” series, but this was quite good. Helpful explanations, humor, and good-sounding recipes!

Not too many recipes in here, but it‘s more about explaining how to adopt a new lifestyle of eating. DASH is recommended by doctors for lowering inflammation and blood pressure, and Mediterranean is supposed to be the best for health and long life. This is a combination to give you the best chance for healthy ways of eating. Explained well, lots of examples. Lots of vegetables, lean meats and fish, nuts, dairy, fruit.

I'm not sure how to describe this one, but it's out and there are rants about Game of Thrones, and rants about Aaron Rodgers, so I guess that's par for the course. Also, we answer some listener questions, discuss the upcoming Dennis Lehane novel, and Matt reviews the books he reads to his kid. Really fun episode, enjoy!

Currently reading. I love reading stories from people who were vegan or vegetarian until they actually step on a farm and wake up to reality and reconnect to nature. But Nicolette has a unique perspective being a environmental lawyer. Really enjoying this experience.
