Pad Thai and The Magic Cottage. The only other James Hebert that I‘ve read before was The Secret of Crickley Hall, which I remember being disturbing/ frightening. So far this seems like a much gentler kind of horror novel.
So far I‘m enjoying it!

Overall a pick, but sometimes it‘s hard to move past the frequent fat shaming/ emphasis on Vera Stanhope‘s appearance in these books. Some books it feels less obvious, for whatever reason I noticed it more with this one, Also not really sure what to make of the inclusion of a plot line centering on a false sexual assault allegation. Not sure what to make of that. But always a great atmosphere in these books, I felt compelled to keep reading.

Went for a walk to listen to the Backlisted podcast episode on Lolly Willowes. I‘m hoping to reread it sometime this #readathon weekend. I read it years ago and was loved it, was reminded recently that Lolly Willowes was 47 years old when she went off to seek her independence in the country/ became a witch, and I just turned 47. Thought it was time for a reread! #dewey #deweyreadathon #deweys24hrreadathon #deweyoctober

Tamra I have yet to get to it, but I want to! 3mo
In_the_stacks @Tamra I can‘t remember the details of the book, but remember loving it. And the Backlisted episode was a great re-introduction to the book, I‘m excited to revisit it this weekend. 3mo

I‘m planning to participate in the #dewey #readathon on Saturday, but decided to make it a 3 day readathon for myself because I‘m off these 3 days. I have a loose TBR with some library books, some books from my shelves that I‘ve been saving for this month, and some short fiction on kindle.

Going to start by alternating between the Ann Cleeves book/ the tagged book on kindle.

I took a moment during the Read a thon to knock out a category for the Book Riot Read Harder Challenge. I read this for the manga category. It was a bit choppy to me and a bit hard to follow at times. I don't know if it was a manga thing or if it was just this manga. Overall, it was OK, but not compelling enough for me to get the next volume from the library. #readathon #deweyoctober #readharder
