This was the perfect feel good read for the season.
Zombie apocalypse from the point of view of a pet crow. I really liked this one, it left me feeling hopeful with a smile on my face. Not recommended if you are bothered by foul language or animal deaths.
I really liked the dog‘s voice and point of view, but the story was too sad for my tastes.
I like the atmosphere, setting and characters. The mystery was OK, but it seemed like the author tried to do too many different things in the end.
I really loved how the author incorporated fairy tale tropes in a subtle but recognizable way. Also appreciated three strong female characters who were each strong in their own unique way.
Max and I are ready to start the #reversereadathon. He has his stack ready and the randomizer picked Escape from Mr. Lemoncello‘s Library for him to start with. #deweysreadathon
This was an interesting premise for a novella. It kept my attention because I had no idea where the story was going (in a good way). It was a good choice for a creepy read. #readathon #deweyoct
Fun and silly choose your own adventure was a fine break from more serious reads during the #readathon. Bonus - it covers one of the prompts from the #popsugar challenge.

I took a moment during the Read a thon to knock out a category for the Book Riot Read Harder Challenge. I read this for the manga category. It was a bit choppy to me and a bit hard to follow at times. I don't know if it was a manga thing or if it was just this manga. Overall, it was OK, but not compelling enough for me to get the next volume from the library. #readathon #deweyoctober #readharder
I am starting the Readathon with an audio book. I have been working my way through How Long 'til Black Future Month for about a month now, between novels. So I am starting out with “The Trojan Girl“.

Max and I are participating in the Dewey's Readathon!
1) Maryland, USA
2) ME: Nimona and Max: Miscalculations of Lightning Girl.
3) Pumpkin Dump Cake
4) My other hobby is photography. Max does martial arts and acrobatic gymnastics.
5) I didn't make it to the grocery store or library yesterday, so we are working with what we have in the house this time. Hopefully that will result in a reduction of the TBR.

I really liked this book. It reminded me of the fairy tales and folk stories I loved as a kid, but with Mayan mythology instead of European.
Finished my second book for Dewey's Reverse Readathon. This was a great mystery. I liked the character and the atmosphere of the setting. The mystery was good - I did not guess the culprit until I was supposed to, yet after the reveal I can see the clues were there. Will definitely put the next one in the series on my TBR. #reversereadathon #deweysreadathon
This was a fun book and a great choice to start off the Reverse Read a Thon. Loved the characters and look forward to reading more in the series. #deweysreadathon #reversereadathon.
This was a very powerful read for me. It was not an easy read, Solomon presents a brutal situation. However nothing felt gratuitous to me. The characters were interesting and diverse. Despite the diversity, none of the primary characters felt like a stereotype. I also liked that despite all the darkness presented in the novel - the author does give the reader a glimmer of hope.
I liked the characters a lot. The beginning was a bit slow. I expected more intrigue in a book about two spies. Overall it was a good summer read.
The first half really dragged for me. The second half picked up and held my attention better.
Interesting epistolary novel with an unreliable narrator. At the end I was very confused about some of the events of the book and was frustrated by the female characters.
This one was a bit slower than the other books in Sanderson‘s Cosmere. The characters are great though and the world building is fantastic.
I found this book very interesting. Although the concept of police that can see the paranormal parts of London is not unique, this one really delved into how this affected the different members of the team in different ways. I will definitely continue withe the series.
It was not an easy read, but it helped me understand what the Syrian people are going through during the war there.
I really liked how this mystery unfolded to the reader through the interwoven generations. It really kept my interests. The audiobook was very well done.
Murderbot is comfort reading for me. This one did not disappoint. I will start the next one soon.
Bradbury does an excellent job bringing the summer of 1928 alive. His descriptions are beautiful and appeal to all the senses.
It was OK. Liked the world building but felt like it was missing some depth. It would probably make a great movie.
The second book completed for #deweysreadathon was the second volume in the graphic novel memoir of John Lewis. I am really enjoying these and I am learning a lot. It has led to many google searches to learn more. #readathon
I learned a lot from the first volume of the graphic novel memoir by John Lewis. I look forward to reading the next two. #readathon #deweysreadathon
I really like this original take on a murder mystery. It was like Agatha Christie mixed with Quantum Leap.
Loved the setting and the use of Navajo mythology. I also liked that it was an apocalyptic tale (although the world outside was only mentioned in passing). It did have some of the typical first in a series flaws, but overall I liked it and will continue the series.
I really enjoyed reading the first book in this series about an African American woman thrust into the role of amateur sleuth. It had a lot of humor, but it had some serious social commentary regarding how people of color and people with disabilities are treated.
Reading Let It Shine on the kindle while I snack on some bacon cheese fries for the #readathon. #deweysreadathon #whatsonyourplate
Max is listening to Life, the Universe and Everything while snacking on gummy worms and red Gatorade (hence the red mustache) for the #readathon. He wanted me to post this picture for the “A Book and a Snack” mini-challenge. #RATbooksnack #deweysreadathon
One of my favorites. My kids and I decided to read it for the Beautiful Cover Bingo square in the #readathon. You can‘t beat illustrations by Charles Vess. #deweysreadathon.
Here we go! My first book in the #readathon will be In the Stacks by Scott Lynch. It is a short novella that is not available in the Litsy database, but I loved The Lies if Locke Lamora so I am looking forward to reading more by this author. #deweysreadathon
I really enjoyed this story. I liked the Native American folklore/mythology and how de Lint linked it to his Newford mythology. The characters were interesting and a somewhat meandering plot kept my attention despite all of the different paths it took.
I really liked this book. It was nice reading about older women where the characters were complex and showed growth. I have found myself really drawn to books set in post apartheid South Africa lately. It also filled a requirement for the Read Harder Challenge - book with a female protagonist over 60. #readharder
I am really enjoying this series. The characters are great and I learn a lot about the history and culture of Laos.
I liked Lock In better, but this one was pretty good too. I hope Scalzi writes more books in this world.
I liked this follow up novella, but I wish it didn‘t end on such a cliff hanger.
Just finished this book and this plate of pretzel bites (with some help) for the #readathon. Interesting perspective on superhero stories.
Max and I took turns reading Haiku from this picture book for the #readathon. Pictures and poems were great with a great variety of animals. The ant poem even got a chuckle from my 10-year old son.
I think I have a new favorite superhero. I took a break from my audiobook too read this graphic novel for the #readathon. I hope Kamala gets her own movie someday.
He pressed play at 8:00 on the dot. Staring with Arf on audio. #readathon. I am going to read Home on kindle.
