Went for a walk to listen to the Backlisted podcast episode on Lolly Willowes. I‘m hoping to reread it sometime this #readathon weekend. I read it years ago and was loved it, was reminded recently that Lolly Willowes was 47 years old when she went off to seek her independence in the country/ became a witch, and I just turned 47. Thought it was time for a reread! #dewey #deweyreadathon #deweys24hrreadathon #deweyoctober

Tamra I have yet to get to it, but I want to! 2w
In_the_stacks @Tamra I can‘t remember the details of the book, but remember loving it. And the Backlisted episode was a great re-introduction to the book, I‘m excited to revisit it this weekend. 1w

So I listened to 2 hours, with frequent interruptions- now I know why I‘ve never joined a readathon before!!! How do people do it? I‘m going to finish my night with a cozy mystery and trying to choose between these two! #deweyreadathon

Avanders Which did you choose?? You‘ve read the first in the Hungarian mystery series already? 3y
Chrissyreadit @Avanders I picked the Death of A Wandering Wolf- yes I read the first one!!! I loved it. I‘m Hungarian on my Fathers side, and my husbands nickname is “wolf” so the series cracks me up. Have you read it? 3y
Avanders Ohh fun! I loved the first one too 😁 I don‘t have any Hungarian in me, but one of my employee‘s husband does, and I gave her the first book to read ☺️ Very cool about your husband‘s nickname! That‘s awesome 😄 3y
Chrissyreadit @Avanders do you want me to send this one when I finish it? 3y
Avanders Thank you but no … I already own it! 😁 3y

Pickpick

This was NOTHING I expected! But thanks to @HOTPock3tt I picked it up and could not put it down! And it is my first book completed for my first #deweyreadathon ❤️ I started reading at 8:45, and have probably had an hour of breaks since then- so have read about 4 hours so far. This is a modern day fairy tale- but the horror kind, not the Disney kind. Very character driven and a very slow burn. It was also well written, and took place in Queens.

HOTPock3tt Soo glad you loved it!!!😃♥️ now I just have to catch up and post my review 🤣 @Chrissyreadit 3y

With King it‘s never about the plot for me. He has a way of creating characters, even in a novella like this, that make you feel invested in their lives. There‘s nothing scary in this book, just a story about neighbors finding common ground and realizing life is too short for petty disputes.

“Life is what we make it and acceptance is the key to all our affairs.” #deweyreadathon #readathon @DeweysReadathon

Mitch What a gorgeous reading spot! 3y
Jinjer Daaaang, Girl! I don't know what is going on but I was not able to leave you a comment on your blog and I couldn't pull you up on Twitter and your Insta is private so I finally can talk to you here on Litsy. I thought maybe the blog comment problem was that your blog doesn't like my Chromebook, but I couldn't leave a comment via my iPhone either.

Anyway! All I wanted to do was ask you was: What did you think of Address Unknown?
3y
AvidReader25 @Jinjer I‘m so sorry, that‘s nuts! I need to figure out the blog thing. I loved it! It was short, sharp, and beautifully powerfully in its brief story. Have you read it? 3y
Jinjer @AvidReader25 I put a hold on a copy of Address Unknown from the library! Looking forward to it! Glad to hear it gets a thumbs up from you! 3y
AvidReader25 @Jinjer You‘ll love it! So short, packs a punch, and amazing to think it was written in the‘30s before WWII even started. 3y

Panpan

First book complete for the #deweyreadathon. I selected this one because I wanted to read more from Asian-American authors about their experiences. The graphic novel‘s protagonist is such a jerk that it‘s hard to care what happens to him. He‘s selfish, shallow, depressed, and angry about everything. Overall I wasn‘t a fan, though I do appreciate the brave approach to delicate issues. #readathon
