Little Women | Louisa May Alcott

Pickpick

I can't say that I'm totally in love with it, but I enjoyed it a great deal. There were a few moments that I've found a bit boring, but most of the time the adventures of four March sisters were quite charming. And there are definitely lessons in there that one can use today. 📚📚📖 #jumpstart2020 #littlewomen

I can't wait to finish the book and then finally go to see the movie! The whole cast is stellar, but Saoirse and Timothee are my recent favourites!! 😍😍📚 #littlewomen #booktomovie #jumpstart2020

Tanisha_A Those two are my recent favourites too! 😍 5d

RaimeyGallant I NEEEEED to see this. 7d
Blh87 The new movie was SO good. I have to admit that I‘ve never read the book (shame on me), but I did see the earlier movie with Winona Ryder and co. It left me with a very strong distaste for all of the characters. HOWEVER, this version...SO FREAKING GOOD. Every character was amazing and badass in their very own way👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 6d

I have signed up for a LARGE assortment of reading challenges for 2020, but generally tend to mood read. Therefore I only chose 3 specific books to finish throughout the year. To make sure I keep them high on the priority list, I made a spread in my bullet journal, and I absolutely LOVE how it turned out. 😍

First audiobook of the year completed. I would have loved this as a kid. Bonus: their first book was Little Women.
I set a goal to listen to more audiobooks this year. I have to if I ever hope to put a dent on my tbr since it‘s always growing.

Saw the movie with my husband this week, so decided to reread the book as an adult. ❤️📚👩‍👩‍👧‍👧

CareBear How was the movie? 3w
Scochrane26 I just saw the movie & loved it! Don‘t want to read the book again, but I‘m interested learning more about Alcott. 3w
Reviewsbylola I‘m reading this right now too! 3w

kspenmoll @CareBear I loved it. Ran 2 parallel story lines to incorporate both Bk 1& Bk 2. Opening at Christmas; other story 7 yrs later (book 2). My niece thought the actresses for Amy & Meg were not cast well but other then that, she & my sister loved it too. We four sisters grew up playing with the Little Women Madame Alexander dolls, one for each, & made up further stories around their lives! 3w
kspenmoll @Scochrane26 There are some good biographies out- also I live near enough to visit one house they lived in (among many) Wayside Inn, and they grew up among transcendentalist friends of their fathers: Thoreau, Hawthorne,Emerson, all authors. 3w
kspenmoll @Reviewsbylola 🙌🏻🙌🏻just read ch1 & the movie took dialogue & action right from that chapter.😀 I am using serial reader but I have an old print copy as well. 3w

Book of 3 parts - the 1st the most interesting, the story behind the creation of the book both its characters & the book as a business was fascinating. The final section explores the books current relevances & impact across popular culture. Sandwiched in between is the life of the book across movies and celebrities - a little drawn out & more like an academic survey. The other parts were compulsive reading. Great companion read to the new film.

rubyslippersreads I really want to read this, since I just saw the new film and rewatched the 1949 version. 3w
Mitch @rubyslippersreads I think you'll enjoy it - its super packed with ideas / info but really readable 3w
Scochrane26 I just saw the movie & cried through the whole thing. Didn‘t love the book though. I‘m stacking this because I‘m more interested in the 1st section. 3w

Really enjoying this - super interesting to take one book and unpick the making of it, the parallels with the authors life, the cult of it and the legacy... only a third of the way through and seeing the movie in 38 hrs so need to read a bit faster! #slowreader

AHartforbooks I read the book so long ago I barely remember it, but I saw the new movie yesterday and kept wondering how much of this was Alcott's story. This looks like a great chance to find out. 3w
Mitch @AHartforbooks the opening few chapters are all about that question! 3w
