Bailedbailed

Tried this before an upcoming trip to France. The personal story is lovely but I couldn‘t get into the specific history of all that animal-based French food. Not the right moment for me.

Pickpick

Liked this one more than I expected to. The author presents her mother, Alice Waters, as someone who‘s focused, particular, and a little eccentric. Might be time for a visit to Chez Panisse

Read my #BookSpin and #DoubleSpin and my first nonfiction of the year (towards my goal of 12). Finished Ove and going to see Otto tomorrow. Alas, so many good books left on the board. I really need to read faster! #BookSpinBingo

Pickpick

I am so late finishing my second first #LMPBC book for this round. I am getting both this one and Rivers of London in the mail today. #GroupL #GroupV This one was a soft pick for me. I enjoyed it mostly and it could be my mood lately but I just couldn‘t get over that she was complaining a lot about getting to spend literal years living in France. 🤷🏻‍♀️

BookishBelle @Mynameisacolour This is headed your way today! @DanaManiac @Kdgordon88 I received The Silence of the Girls and am starting it next. 3y
BookishBelle @sprainedbrain I am sending you Rivers of London today. @persephone1408 @TheSpineView 3y

Hey #LMPBC #GroupV! Here are some picks from my TBR shelf. Don‘t mind the kitty butt in the shot. She wouldn‘t move. Let me know what you like, don‘t like, have already read.

Deblovestoread My first pick would be Mastering the Art of French Eating but they all sound interesting. I‘ve read and loved The Martian and would happily reread it. 3y
HeathHof Ooh lots of good options here too! I've read The Martian as well. My first choice would be The Windup Girl but I'm open to any of them. 3y
DanaManiac Hey! Lots of interesting picks here! I think The Windup Girl would be my first pick, but I‘d be happy to read any of them. 😊 3y
BookishBelle Okay. I‘ll go with The Windup Girl unless there‘s an objection. @Kdgordon88 @Mynameisacolour @DanaManiac 3y
BookishBelle @Kdgordon88 @Mynameisacolour @DanaManiac I am really struggling to get through The Windup Girl. It‘s got animal abuse and a gruesome slaughter of an animal and I‘ve just learned that it has some sexual violence in it as well. I know I can handle these things if I have to but I read for fun and I am not enjoying this book at all. Would y‘all be terribly put out if I switched my book to Mastering the Art of French Eating? 3y
HeathHof Totally fine here! 3y
Deblovestoread Yes, please do. I can do without the things you‘ve mentioned. 3y
DanaManiac Of course! Totally understandable!! 3y

A few books set in Paris, which I‘ve only visited through reading so far! I‘ve read the tagged book and want to get to the other two soon.
