#GratefulHarvest - Porch: The Women of Brewster Place. Inner-city tenement housing. A dead-end street. A group of black women trying to hold on to life or at least a resemblance to ordinary living. Fighting to survive the crap that rolls downhill and lands in the laps of the poor and the disenfranchised and more often than not, women.👇🏽
When I think of #warmth I think of food that warms the belly & the soul. Although it never gets truly cold here by regular standards, I like when I can cook warming foods & this Diana Henry cookbook is one of my favorites for winter.❄️💙❄️
I have yet to read any of Valancourt's Xmas anthologies, but I'm intrigued. From the pub. site: "Seeking to capitalize on the success of...A Christmas Carol (1843), Victorian newspapers & magazines frequently featured ghost stories at Christmas time." I love the idea of reading the latest spooky tale in the #warmth of home, with a tea or coffee close by. #GratefulHarvest @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Eggs
“…we would be together and have our books and at night be warm in bed together with the windows open and the stars bright.”
Ernest Hemingway, A Moveable Feast.
Thanks @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Eggs for a month of fun photo challenge. Haven‘t played in a while and I enjoyed it! 🤗
