Chocolate Wars by Deborah Cadbury was a fascinating read (the author is related to Cadbury family, but not the chocolate-making branch). Meticulously researched, this book talks about process of creating chocolate as we know it today, and Quacker values that were the foundation of the company. The author touches on Hershey and Mars companies as well. And finally we arrived to acquisition of Cadbury by Kraft. Five stars.

I love this series. I know it is gear for kids, but I feel like I learn so much about the famous people they feature.

#NFNov Book 15 finished.
#TIL Milton Hershey believed workers and the community should share in his profits. He built homes his employees. He built an industrial school for orphaned boys. I wish more corporations today had this philosophy.

You're out of your mind if you think I bought this candy for trick-or-treaters. I knew I wanted to read this book, and also knew that it would be impossible to read without Hershey chocolate.

This book was really interesting. I hadn't realized that Kraft and Nestle have a virtual monopoly on chocolate now. This was both a microhistory of sorts, and a family history. Deborah Cadbury is a distant cousin to the chocolate-making Cadburys, so her perspective was interesting. I also didn't know much about the history and manufacture of chocolate. The book was very informative.

I started reading a book about the chocolate business, and couldn't resist getting some chocolate. Also candy.

alisiakae Aww, you have a bunny too! Ours is grey and white. 🐰 💖 6y
BeansPage @4thhouseontheleft awe! Bunnies are so wonderful ❤️ Ours runs around the house like a cat. He's litter box trained and everything 😁 6y
alisiakae Same with ours! Although he hates hardwood floors, so he only runs around our living area where the rug is. I feel lucky, because he never gets into anything, and only chooses to come out of his cage when someone is nearby. 😃 6y
BeansPage @4thhouseontheleft Hershey used to eat our cords and phone chargers but he really doesn't do that anymore. He is getting on in age so he usually just comes out for love and pets now LOL Spoiled bunny 💕🐰💕 6y
