pickThis is on the longlist for the Booker. And it's kind of what you would expect from that list. It's beautifully written, very reflective, slow paced and sort of dry. Am I selling it? I learned a lot about contemporary Sri Lanka. And the culture. Enough to make me realize that I know nothing.

A young woman returns home to Kenya after a long absence. There have been many changes since she left. The biggest one is that her father is now involved with a woman from the Happy Valley set. An appearances must be kept up. When it comes out find it and enjoy the story.

Anywho. I am actually enjoying this book! I think reading The Taming of the Shrew before hand and keeping in mind that it is a retelling helps a lot with this one. Because, honestly, if you went into it without that in mind, the entire story would piss you off royally.
