This beautiful red bush, unfortunately, is an invasive plant. I haven‘t seen them in #mytowninautumn for a while now. This picture is from 2015. #autumnplease
This is a great birdwatching guide.

I‘ve had an escalating interest in foraging/identifying mushrooms🍄 🤗. I bought this guide recently, and it‘s been extremely helpful. I found so many great mushrooms over the weekend (that I never would have noticed if it wasn‘t for the guidance of this book). Would recommend for newbies. there isn‘t any medicinal information, but still pretty useful 👍🏽
In studying the plant family Plantaginaceae, I came across the genus Veronica. The common name of Veronica is Speedwell. Funny thing, Veronica Speedwell is the title character in Deanna Raybourn‘s current mystery series. 😂
Those of you who know me well know that I‘m a master gardener and a lover of botanical gardens. I‘ve been working hard recently on learning plant taxonomy and identification, including studying the tagged book. But I think it‘s important to have a sense of humor, even if you‘re a geek. Maybe especially if you‘re a geek😂
You know you‘ve been badly bitten by the botany bug when you pause your walk to look at the veination of a leaf and bring home a flower to dissect to help identify the plant 😂 It‘s a spider lily, or giant crinum, Crinum asiaticum. Proud of my first real plant ID, and I never expected to get this excited about plant parts😄
Happy Valentine‘s Day, everyone. I just couldn‘t resist!
