This beautiful red bush, unfortunately, is an invasive plant. I haven‘t seen them in #mytowninautumn for a while now. This picture is from 2015. #autumnplease

SamAnne My go-to. Have you tried the Merlin app from Cornell U? You can record bird song and get an ID 1y

I‘ve had an escalating interest in foraging/identifying mushrooms🍄 🤗. I bought this guide recently, and it‘s been extremely helpful. I found so many great mushrooms over the weekend (that I never would have noticed if it wasn‘t for the guidance of this book). Would recommend for newbies. there isn‘t any medicinal information, but still pretty useful 👍🏽

In studying the plant family Plantaginaceae, I came across the genus Veronica. The common name of Veronica is Speedwell. Funny thing, Veronica Speedwell is the title character in Deanna Raybourn‘s current mystery series. 😂

EvieBee That is so awesome! We have a lot of Veronicas in our family. Had no idea it was a plant. Also...that series is on my list! 3y
StaceGhost I love all the little jokes she has characters make about it in the series it‘s so cute lol 3y
Lynnsoprano @EvieBee It is one of my favorite series. @StaceGhost There are so many levels to those books. 3y

Those of you who know me well know that I‘m a master gardener and a lover of botanical gardens. I‘ve been working hard recently on learning plant taxonomy and identification, including studying the tagged book. But I think it‘s important to have a sense of humor, even if you‘re a geek. Maybe especially if you‘re a geek😂

Nute lol 3y
Crazeedi I love learning the botanical names and classifications. For a time I was really into plant identification , especially the one that grew where I lived. I have a book that you mark dates you find each one. 3y

Lynnsoprano @Crazeedi We‘re currently watching a Great Courses series called The Botanist‘s Eye. After each lecture I sit down with the tagged book to go over the plant families the lecture covered. I‘ve been surprised by how many of the plants we have are covered, since we‘re almost a subtropical environment. 3y
Tracyantoon 😂 I love it when businesses make nerdy signs like that! Perfect! 3y
Reggie I used to work at a restaurant wth at was down the street from a nursery and their sign at the time said Pansies are in. And we used to have this coworker who complained all the time. Finally another coworker told him to shut up and shouldn‘t he be at the nursery because the pansies were in. It was so funny at the time. We all had a great laugh. 3y

You know you‘ve been badly bitten by the botany bug when you pause your walk to look at the veination of a leaf and bring home a flower to dissect to help identify the plant 😂 It‘s a spider lily, or giant crinum, Crinum asiaticum. Proud of my first real plant ID, and I never expected to get this excited about plant parts😄
