#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong A challenging case where there were multiple elements to navigate - dirty cops, an avenging killer (also a cop), a crazed villain from Roarke‘s past, marital strife - Eve handled it all as she always does-with grit and determination and heart. She had compassion for her killer-and while I figured out who it was early on, I didn‘t know how things would come to a close. She and Roarke grew closer and weathered the storm.

Librarybelle I‘m a little behind reading this but hope to finish it soon! 19h
StayCurious @Librarybelle it is a longer one 19h

ShananigansReads Eve and Roarke really scared me for a bit in this book but I have to remember that even their anger is anchored in their love and need for each other. 17h
LiseWorks The strife between Roarke and Eve made the relationship stronger, I think. It was very intense to read. 16h
TheAromaofBooks The ending of this one actually had me a little choked up. “Those faces in your dreams? Have you ever thought that they were coming to thank you?“ 😢 6h

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong I‘m very sorry for being so late with this check in. Every night this week I intended to catch up and life stubbornly got in the way. We will still finish the book on Sunday March 2. Ch.11-15: Eve and Roarke are fighting and she storms his office to hash things out. He agrees to help her take down Ricker even though he wants to take the bastard out himself - especially since Ricker comes after Eve again. ⬇️

StayCurious Eve bats up against IAB - there‘s no love lost there btw her and the Captain. But she is given the go ahead to continue her investigation. Kohlie was clean and she needs to find his killer - and stop whoever is targeting cops. And she needs to find out what is happening at Purgatory and what Ricker has to do with it. Ricker is losing control and that makes him even more dangerous. (edited) 3d
TheAromaofBooks I had to finish this one because I was so caught up in it!! I loved this one. Some great relationship development and a good mystery. 3d

I‘m lying in bed listening to JiD and playing games on my tablet and I resent that I need to get up and do adult things like cook clean and get ready for the work week. 😩😩😩

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong Ch.6-10: this book definitely has interesting twists and turns. Another cop is dead and another cop was dirty. Eve knows Ricker was involved. She goes after the goons that Ricker sent after her and when she gets one to flip he dies conveniently. Is Ricker untouchable? Roarke is mad at Eve for going after Ricker on her own, then tethering him when he wants to go after him in revenge. ⬇️

StayCurious I get why he‘s mad, but she probably stopped Roarke from murdering the bastard. Even Summerset agrees with Eve‘s actions😳. Then there‘s the complication with IAB and Webster who acknowledges that Kholi wasn‘t dirty but undercover. Webster needs to watch himself - IAB may come after him for sharing secrets. If he makes it out of Eve and Roarke‘s house alive that is. 2w
LiseWorks I'm not sure what Webster is up to, but having a thing for Eve is not in his best interest. Love the way Roarke tells him to take his hands off his wife. A cliff hanger for me lol. 2w

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong Ch.1-5: a cop is killed - and it‘s way overkill - inside an upscale strip club owned by Roarke. Eve is determined to find the killer, and dig into the secrets the cop may have been carrying. Was he on the take? She gets warned by IAB and the cop‘s finances point to yes. But Eve still needs to find the killer-while juggling jurisdictional BS. ⬇️

StayCurious Her investigation leads to a dangerous man from Roarke‘s past. This guy is something else. Will Eve and her team be able to wade through the complex nature of this case? 3w
Librarybelle Something else indeed! Yikes! 3w
Read4life I have every faith in Eve & the gang. 🤓 3w
ShananigansReads Catching up and omg that dude (the former colleague whose name I can‘t remember right now) is scary. Also I don‘t like this IAB dude (Warren?) he seems like bad news. 1w

#IDLR #InDeathLongReadalong We‘re on to book 11! We will stick to our usual reading schedule and will check in on Feb 9, 16, 23, and finish on March 2. I‘m looking forward to seeing how things are progressing with our characters, especially Peabody and Mcnabb. As always, let me know if you want to be added or removed from the tag list.
