I read book one years ago. I never got to the rest of the series despite owning them all in ebook. So… I added them to my #Roll100 list and each month I‘ll add another to my #readyourebooks list.
Summer at the Jersey Shore. National Toasted Marshmallow Day. Paint ball attacks on Danny and his friends that quickly turns into real bullets flying.

Day 21 of #scarathlondailyprompts is missing. My kids and I have enjoyed so, so many Chris Grabenstein books. He writes for adults too. This is the first of the John Ceepak Mystery series. I‘ve read the first three and like both the John Ceepak character as well as the rookie Danny Boyle. There is a missing girl in part of the twists and turns of this plot. #TeamSlaughter #scarathlon

I forgot to post my totals for week two's Scramble game. I found 1,970 words. Not my best, but the combination of letters turned out to be more difficult than I expected.

The John Ceepak series has gotten a little bit darker, grittier, & more cynical— just enough to knock it out of my “Summer Beach Reads” stax. This one was about a family-friendly magician‘s act in Atlantic City that covered a rather sordid lifestyle. The mystery is solid and the audiobook narration (Jeff Woodman) terrific— so it gets a “Pick”; but I‘m liking the protagonists less and less as the series goes on. 🎧

🎧 This series started out as great Summer Beach reads, but this was a bit too dark, grisly and, cynical to be that: An Army vet is found dead in the men‘s room in a New Jersey turnpike rest stop. Issues of PTSD, drug abuse and, suicide are touched on in this police procedural set in a seaside resort town. Audiobook narrator, Jeff Woodman nails it (as always) as the young Danny Boyle in this 4th book in the John Ceepak series.

🎧 Hey, remember when I posted about the first two titles on this series and mentioned how they were the perfect beach reads? Well, this one is not that! Rather, it‘s a rather grisly mystery about a serial killer and, the story‘s narrator has gone from being a good humored sidekick to being rather cynical and sarcastic. The audiobook narrator, Jeff Woodman was excellent as always but I might need to take a little break B4 diving into the next one.

What a great start to this mystery series. Highly recommend. Love John Ceepak, the main character. Author draws you in right away to the book and does great character development so that you are invested in their lives as well.
