Robin Hobb creates a magical world, this has to be different to any book I‘ve read before with Liveships, Pirates, sea serpents, etc. These take a while to get into and despite being fantasy has great linkages to the real world and the down trodden way women have been treated throughout history.

A BIG read but some interesting plot lines and interested to see where this is taken in book 2.

1. I‘m in Bingtown and on a Liveship travelling the Cursed Shores in Robin Hobb‘s world with the tagged book.

2. I always love books set in Scotland, and especially in the remote parts of Scotland, and we regularly visit these areas on holiday so the books remind me of our holidays. So much great crime fiction set in these areas.

Started March by a mixture of reading and listening to the first book in The Liveship Traders Series by RobinHobb. At 896 pages this Chunkster may take a while.

Book three in the Liveship Trader trilogy and this book pulls everything together wonderfully.

The world and plot are too big for me successfully put into words but just know, this is an epic journey with traders, pirates, slaves, royalty and many other sections of society tackling many issues that we face today. It gives you such a lot to think about.

Deifio The series is wonderful! Really heart wrenching though! I read them twice. Are you going to read the other Farseer books? 3mo
Michellesibs @Deifio I've read the first trilogy (Farseer) and now Liveships so 2024 I shall move onto the next trilogy. Have you read them? 3mo
Deifio @Michellesibs yes, I read all of them. I like how the story is told over several trilogies. So you're up for the Tawny Man trilogy next 3mo
Michellesibs @Deifio Yep, and I'm looking forward to it! X 3mo

Book two in Robin Hobb's Liveship Trilogy.

The plots in her books are bigger than I can ever contemplate however the writing, the magic system, the world building are so assessable and the characters are so relatable.

Paragon remains my favourite character however there isn't a character I'm not invested in. Hobb batters her characters and that batters my heart, I'm here to witness their suffering along with their jubilation.

I'm trying a different tactic with my #BookSpin list for 2024. I know I bemoan my chunkster curse but I think I'm just going to lean into it this time. I organized my physical book tbr by page number and then put the highest page counts first. Then anything I add each month after will have a smaller page count than those already on the list. I'm excited to see how this plays out. As always thanks to @TheAromaofBooks for hosting!

TheAromaofBooks Wow, extra challenging!!! 3mo

October 2023 Wrap Up!

I haven‘t finished documenting September‘s stats. Another busy month!

3 Readathons. No burnout.

I finished 41 books and here are 16 I really enjoyed.

I‘m not sure if my Non-Book Life kept me from enjoying stories more but I only had three 5-star books this month & they‘re all a bit different.

Ship of Destiny - The Liveship Traders 3️⃣

Hunted - Iron Druid 6️⃣

The Exorcist‘s House

What was your favorite OCT book(s)?

I want more Liveship Traders!

There were some TWs but i got past them & loved it!

Everything and everyone splits apart, comes together, lives, dies, etc. a typical HOBB book! And SO long! I loved characters & loved hating others!

I could talk talk talk but it‘s book 3 so I won‘t. This book doesn‘t need a critique, it begs to be read! Do it!

Another awesome 5 ⭐️ read!

I love the way Robin Hobb writes, her sentences are cozy which is something considering how brutal her plots are.

There's a lot being said here about women. How society and tradition tie our hands both in the present day and in our futures.

Loved the liveships, how they come to be, how they operate, how they are sustained. Paragon is a great liveship and I'm incredibly interested in where his story line is going.

Ruthiella Robin Hobb is amazing. I just finished the second in the Tawny Man trilogy. 👍 5mo
Michellesibs @Ruthiella I'm looking forward to getting to that trilogy! 5mo

LOVED THIS!!

The Vestrit family is in need of help. The truth of what‘s happened to their slaver ship is out and Althea wants it back!

I think my favorite part is that Malta has evolved & grown. I reallllly hated her in book one.

Can‘t wait for book 3 in October!
