My favourite fantasy series. First time I've re-read it in over 10 years and it's still as good as I remembered.

I do need a break before the next book. Maybe something cheerful and not as complex?

This is me. I want all the women in his life to Murder on the Orient Express him.

I actually can't remember what happens to him and it's making me anxious that he's going to stick around and make things so much worse

Ruthiella Don‘t worry. He will get his just rewards. But the reader (and everyone around him) has to suffer him for a long while. 4d
PuddleJumper @Ruthiella 🥳🥳 Good to know! I figured he'd be around for a while. I just ... Everytime he appears there's so much rage 4d
RaeLovesToRead I love the using of "Murder on the Orient Express" as a verb ??? 4d

I'm reading my 1998 edition of Ship of Magic and the pages are like tissue paper!

Look at this stunning 90s book cover by Michael Whelan. Magical.

Here is the book club's leaderboard for the Farseer Trilogy. I know we lost a few which I understand, sometimes this trilogy is a merry go round of pain and 1st POV doesn't work for everyone.

Do you agree with the ratings? What was your favourite book?

PuddleJumper Assassin's Quest is my favourite because things change and there's new things going on. The first two books sometimes felt a bit oppressive

Ruthiella It‘s been ten years since I read the first trilogy, but I understand the drop. I remember the third book in particular felt overly long to me. But in retrospect, I like them all equally. Hobb is telling a bigger story and as a reader, I can wait for it. 7d
Enchanted_Bibliophile Assassin's Quest is also my favourite! It kinda feels like Hobb is the "building" type author, where the first two books were used as building blocks to crown it with the third. I'm very excited to see where she'll take us next. 6d

Here‘s how I did on my #bookspinbingo June picks. I started Royal Assassin for the #realmofelderlings buddy read but I only read the prologue. I feel like I didn‘t have time to read very much of this book. I didn‘t read the book club book. I want to read it but I will read it another time. I don‘t have time to read it right now.

TheAromaofBooks Too many books and not enough time!! It's a problem!! 😂 1w

Here‘s how I did on my #readyourkindle list in June. I started Royal Assassin for #realmofelderlings buddy read but I only read the prologue. I finished a series for #serieslove2025. I read some of the books on the #naturalitsy list. I started the short story for #christiescapers but I didn‘t finish it before the end of the month. I read the short stories for #noplacelikeholmes and I read the #whimsicalreadsbookclub book.

We are nearing the time where we say goodbye to FitzChivalry and hello to magic ships and I am so excited!

Next book for #RealmofElderlings will be Ship of Magic which starts the Liveship Trader trilogy. This is by far my favourite trilogy

I'll do a Farseer trilogy wrap up when the leaderboard gets generated

Are we excited to explore a different part of Robin Hobb's world? What are your expectations?

Laughterhp Do I need to have finished the other trilogy to enjoy this one? Because I only read the first book again for fitzchivalry. 1w

PuddleJumper @Laughterhp No, it's set in a different part of the world. I actually read this trilogy first on my original read through 1w
Laughterhp Oh okay, perfect! I‘m hoping I‘ll be more into the next trilogy. 1w
PuddleJumper @Laughterhp Farseer Trilogy is an outlier, it is the only series in 1st person I believe. I see prior recommending reading the Liveship Traders first before Farseer because by then you're invested and won't be easily put off 😅 1w
Enchanted_Bibliophile I'm excited to jump into the new trilogy 😃 (see what I did there) 😉 1w

Here‘s my progress on #realmofelderlings. I started the tagged book this month. I‘ve only read the prologue but it was good. Will I make more progress? Eventually.

These books are never what I expect, but it always blows my mind.
A very satisfying end to a very heart-rending journey.

Hob weaves true magic with her writing. Her poetic, imaginative prose takes you places you've never dreamt of; contiplating situation you'll never face, but truly do though her stories

Enchanted_Bibliophile Going into a darker, more introspective character study with this book makes it much slower than the previous two (which were already slow) so perseverance is the name of the game. Don't try to rush, stick with it I promise you'll be glad you did. Even if it test your tolerance for grimness beyond what you think you can handle. 4w
Enchanted_Bibliophile The complexity of the character bonds is what really pulled it off for me. Nighteyes, Fool I'm looking at you.
The prolonged revenge quest got a bit much for me, but the character development I got out of it was so worth it. Understanding where Fitz came from - his physical and psychological suffering - made me understand his need for revenge.
4w
Enchanted_Bibliophile How he revenged himself in the end, O Man!
It shows just how much he's learnt and grown and it was just spectacular.

I'm gonna miss these characters, they've become a part of my heart.

Both these Audio holds came in today. So guess I'm Audiobooking through this week and finishing Assassin's Quest #RealmOfElderlings 🤷🏼‍♀️

So much for trying to plan my reading for the month.
