TNbookworm Wow, this is a hard question! I would have to say The Hobbit because it is the first book that totally transported me into the pages of a story. But I also love The Stand for the very same reason🙂 4y

TheNeverendingTBR @TheDaysGoBy I completely understand, I've just always said The Stand by Stephen King; followed by 1984 by George Orwell and On The Road by Jack Kerouac. So if you want to do it @julesG and add a few of your favourites then feel free, I'll have to stack Gideon the Ninth! 👌 4y

Jess861 That is such a tough question. Although I have many favourites I think I'd go with The Giver by Lois Lowry. This is because it was the first book I read as an older child which transitioned me from childrens books to young adult books. I really enjoyed it when I read it the first time (and still do) so I think it helped ensure my love of reading continued on past childhood. 4y

MrT Yup. What a question! I could never limit myself to one favourite. I think my love of reading, and reading fantasy starts from reading TLTW&TW BY CS Lewis at a young age and has most definitely shaped my reading choices over my life, so if I have to say just one.... 4y

mrp27 🤣 ha ha!! What I meant to say was my recommendations would depend on the reader. One of my all time favorite reads is of course the Harry Potter series. 4y

bookishbitch The unanswerable question. If I pick one I immediately think of another. Your tagged book The Stand is definitely one of my top picks. It was one of the 1st books I ever really lost myself in. The city of dreaming books is also up there. Simply because it is fantasticly whimsical but also all about the love of all things bookish. Some books are about timing. We love them because of what they gave us at that moment. Things to ponder. What is yours? 4y

TheRiehlDeal I'd have to go with The Lighning Thief. It was the first book I could remember getting lost in when I was in elementary school. And after reading it, I immediately wanted to read the other books in the series. But as for an "adult" book, I'd say The Book Thief. It was the first book I can remember squeezing in any time I could to read it. I also chose it for summer reading in high school. 4y

eeclayton If I really have to pick only one, then I'll choose High Fidelity. I re-read it several times, and regardless of my mood, worries and everything, I love it every time I pick it up. It's about music, human relationships, it has a self-reflective MC with an over-analytical mind, and a realistic ending, so it's all very relatable for me. Oh, and I love Hornby's humour.
