Chapter 11: Colonel Forster arrives with bad news, Mrs Hill becomes the latest victim of the Post Mistress, and Sarah asks the colonel if he‘s seen James….. #ihatethatpostmistress #colonelforstertoo #bullies #poorsarah #poormrshill #lydiaandwickham #rosemary #pemberlittens #shortchapters #chapteraday #wheresjames #tellusalready

CoffeeNBooks Poor Sarah, she finally worked up the nerve to ask Colonel Forster about James, and he was so rude to her about it. 2y
Vansa I found this excellent writing- seems perfectly in character for a colonel to not exhibit the slightest courtesy towards someone he considers his social inferior. 2y

Chapter 2: a new servant! And Lydia, as always, is… well…. Lydia #IYKYK #Lydiaisabrat #poorMrsHill #pemberlittens #chapteraday #shortchapter

Vansa I love that the Napoleonic Wars are directly mentioned, unlike in Austen- in typical rather self centred fashion, though, only in how it affects the Bennett's directly! And well, I guess that's only human!Such visceral descriptions of their work 2y
BarkingMadRead @Vansa yes! I noticed that right away, Jane Austen rarely mentioned anything historical, possibly never lol 2y

Bklover I didn‘t catch that but how interesting! @Vansa 2y
Bklover Lydia‘s dear mother is an asshat! Poor Mrs Hill and Mr Hill. I don‘t think I could have kept my mouth shut. 2y
i.besteph Hi, I‘d like to read along with you as well. Can you please tag me in future posts? 2y
Vansa @Bklover she is, but it's not very different from how people in India treat domestic help. In 2022. Quite interesting for me to read ! 2y
BarkingMadRead @i.besteph absolutely! 2y
Bklover @Vansa That‘s awful! I didn‘t know that. 2y
Sparklemn @Bklover I don‘t think I could have stayed quiet, either. The servants are invisible unless they say something under their breathe. 2y
CoffeeNBooks Oh, Lydia. *sigh* Mrs. Hill seems used to Lydia's comments, and tries not to take any offense to them. Could the new manservant be the scotchman Sarah thought she saw? 2y
