A friend of mine loves Isabel Allende and has read every book of hers, but in Spanish. This is my first book and it‘s a pick. The theme of refugees and the different histories she included were powerful and heart-wrenching. I loved how all the stories came together in the end. I wasn‘t sure if she‘d be able to do it at the beginning. There seemed to be too many storylines but she did it beautifully by the end. The end was sad but also satisfying.

Crazeedi I love the title of this book 5d

This was another enjoyable book in the series. Some of the twists were obvious, but I still enjoyed them when they were revealed. I really like Audrey and Hughes relationship. I also think the character development of the side characters continue to be good. Greer got some of the spotlight this book which I liked and I always want more of Sir. Also, the continuation of the tension with Cassie and Thornton was appreciated. I‘ll continue reading.

It wasn‘t what I expected. I thought this non-fiction science book would be dry and kinda boring, it was neither. It was an amazing book that went back and forth between the story of Henrietta Lacks, the science behind HeLa and the Lacks family. It was an amazing story. I read 100 pages on the first day as if it was a thrilling fiction book, but it‘s real. There was so much upsetting and incredible about this story; an important read for all

Amazing! I‘ve been recommended this book for at least 20 years. I‘ve always meant to read it, but I think I finally read this book at the perfect time in my life. It was immensely inspiring. I finished it very quickly and reread parts. I didn‘t write this review until now because it was all still sinking in. If you feel like you‘re in a slump or at a crossroads read this book. It will remind you of the great journey of life and guide you forward.

This was so much better than the series and Queen Charolette is my favourite Bridgeton series on Netflix, which says something because I love the show. I thought because Shonda Rhimes also wrote the book that is would be a carbon copy, but I should have known better. There is always so much more details and scenes that are cut out of the book for an adaptation. If you want to learn more about this couple I highly recommend reading the book. 😍

I just love this series. This book brings together everything from the previous books and put Charolette against Moriarty. He was always in the outskirts of every investigation but now he has “hired” Charolette for his own investigation. A new character Moriarty‘s daughter is introduced and I love her. I really like all the strong female characters in this series. They are tough but also endearing. Also the love stories are advancing nicely. 🥰

I read this book because it was an independent book store recommendation for the book of the year. I liked it more than I expected being about dragons. It was so much more than a fantasy book. I think it does a great portrayal of what colonization does and how backwards it feels and is. And most importantly how completely unfair. The dragons are great too. I looked for the sequel but no release date yet, but I‘ll wait with “bated breath”.

Pickpick

This was my book pick on this ‘books with movies‘ season of Book Interrupted. This is an amazing true story of a 5 year old in India that got caught on a train and ultimately got lost. He got adopted by a family in Australia and then 25 years later because of Google Earth was able to find home again. This is an incredible story with an unbelievably happy ending. The book was slow in places and the movie changed some things but I enjoyed both.

SarahBookInterrupted Check out what everyone said here on the podcast and how an interesting fact about the book revealed at the beginning of the podcast changes thoughts and opinions about the book.

SarahBookInterrupted @Princess-Kingofkings I ended up watching the movie first which I don‘t usually do, so there were surprises and differences in the book. I think you‘re right it would have been better if I watched the movie second I think. 1mo

The Maidens: A Novel | Alex Michaelides

It‘s my first Alex Michaelides read. It was suggested to me because how much I loved Psyche and Eros. I did like the Greek mythology in it and the symbolism, but the end was so disturbing. It was surprising and I still didn‘t get it until it was clearly explained in the book. I had to go back and reread spots in the book for the clues after I finished. I also liked all the psychology in it. But for me, I always want a happy ending and it wasn‘t.

I absolutely loved every minute of this book. I‘m not sure if it‘s because I‘ve been using a mystic tarot deck for the last 20 yrs, but all the Greek myths are familiar to me so it was a joy every time a new God or Goddess was introduced. Psyche and Eros‘s story is one of my favourite and this adaptation was brilliant being in both their voices. It‘s one of those books that you‘re disappointments that it‘s over although it had a satisfying ending.

This book had a good concept but I just didn‘t feel the heat between Sebastian and Mia, especially enough to cause all the inner turmoil Mia experienced. Plus, Sarah was clearly uninterested. The end felt rushed and the catalyst wasn‘t set up enough to inspire. I think the characters needed more developing and there wasn‘t enough tension for this romance to work for me, but if you‘re looking for a romance with little drama this is the one for you.

I can‘t get enough of this series! I really loved how Inspector Treadles had a complete turnaround last book and how it was demonstrated in this one with his complete faith in Charolette‘s capabilities. I also adored the scenes between Mrs.Treadles and Mrs.Watson. It was so lovely, every book makes me fall deeper in love with Mrs Watson‘s character. The love mishaps last book haven‘t been resolved but they‘re developing so I‘m excited to read on.

I am ready for May 16th! This book is going to be clearly different than the series with one of the only similarities being Penelope is Lady Whistledown. But I still can‘t wait for the series! As for the book, it was exactly what I expected. It‘s written like the other two I read. It‘s enjoyable and steamy. I also liked how Penelope came out of her shell in the book and her friendship with Lady Danbury, hopefully that happens in the series too.

bookishbitch I really liked this one too. 2mo

This has been on my bookshelf for 10+ years and I‘m so glad I finally picked it up. It‘s a super short book and honestly it was repetitive so it could have been even shorter, but it think the author wanted to make sure the reader fully understood each agreement. I‘ll definitely use these agreements in the future. I also felt good how I had already changed my “nightmare” agreements and really feel my life has become my dream. I highly recommend.

I am really enjoying this series. This mystery was as good as the others and as usual the information was slowly revealed, not only to the reader but to the characters as well. There were many hopeful romance storylines but there was some disappointment there but I won‘t say too much on that or it will spoil it. But I‘m hoping where there was disappointment in this book the next one will resolve it. So, I‘ll be reading the next one and soon.

I don‘t read true crime, but the way this book was set up I wasn‘t lost in the details and there were lots. It was extremely interesting and I had no idea about this history, although horribly not surprising. I hope others get justice too. I would suggest reading the book before watching the movie. It‘s easier to follow when you actually know all the details. I liked the movie, although it was very long and as usual they changed some things.

I‘m completely hooked on this series! There is so much that happened in this book that advanced so many storylines. I like how Inspector Treadles inner battle with investigating his friend Lord Ingram with Charolette in disguise also affected his life.I also enjoyed that Charolette‘s sisters were more involved as well as Ash‘s brothers. There is too much to say, amazing mystery that I was never close to solving and more twists right to the end.

I tried adding this title but it didn‘t work. It‘s available on good reads. Anyway, I really enjoyed the book. The mystery was good and I really liked all the characters that were introduced to make up this group of investigators. I‘ll read the sequel for sure. There was a hint of a love story but there wasn‘t enough sexual tension there. That‘s the only thing I thought was lacking. The other side stories were good and the characters are lovable.

Perfect for any romance book lover. It‘s has 3 super cute love stories that are based around the New York Museum of Literature and their employees. I listened to the audiobook so when it went to the second story the narrator was the same actress/voice. It did take me a moment to get used to that transition and that she was no longer Molly. I enjoyed all three heroines and their love interests. It was a funny, sweet and predictable rom-com.

I absolutely loved it. It was just as good as the original trilogy. It was a little darker but it was completely engaging and interesting to see how the Hunger Games developed into what they were. Also, to see how someone becomes the President Snow of the future. The movie did a decent job depicting the book, but I‘d read it first otherwise you‘ll miss some important details and it could feel rushed at the end. Read don‘t listen to the audiobook.

I loved this book in 2008 and recommended it to others but reading it this time around there were some really cringy parts in it. I still loved the spiritual and self discovery stuff. We had a good discussion on the podcast about how people 15+ years ago didn‘t really talk openly about mental health or women escaping social expectations to know themselves. So-so in 2024.

I won‘t go into details why because I think it spoils it a little bit, but the love and grief in this one had me sobbing. Excellent murder mystery as usual. I listened to the audio book which I‘d suggest because the author is an internationally acclaimed Inuit throat singer. She sings between chapters, which adds to the intensity of the book. This book makes you feel all the emotions. The writing is powerful; poetic at times, crude at others. It reads like a memoir at one moment then like folklore the next. It‘s love, hate, sadness, anger, excitement, nostalgia, and regret. It penetrates your soul.

I never guessed whodunnit on this one. Agatha Christie really got me this time. I didn‘t love all the slights against the Spanish relative but all in all another incredibly enjoyable Poirot. I did miss Hasting in this one, but the murder was very unique and complex. I only guessed one element of the confusion with the murder, so I felt some satisfaction with that. This is the last book of Book Interrupted‘s banned book season and it was a good one. It‘s classified as a graphic novel but I‘d say it‘s a novel with drawings. Which I think really added to the story. This is a juvenile book so the narrative is very young, but I think it made all the difficult topics more accessible. Also the author didn‘t follow the formula of “bad guy or good guy” all characters were both. It was more “absolutely”true to life.
