I didn‘t realize this was out of print when I picked it to read this month. I finally tracked it down and I‘m glad I did. The short stories in this collection were creepy and unsettling in the best possible way. My favorites were the one about the misunderstood vampire and the murdering baby.

Did I know Bradbury wrote crime fiction before this book caught my eye in the bookstore? Nope, sure didn‘t. This is an entertaining collection of stories. Some are better than others, as is usually the case, but together they are more entertaining than not. Great plot twists, diverse settings, fantastic range of characters from thugs to circus performers to ventriloquists & more, the supernatural. Bradbury‘s crime fiction is a good read.

Rookie mistake- I picked this for a reading challenge before I figured out if I could even access a copy. I ended up ordering it a month ago and it finally got here. I can‘t wait to dive into this elusive book!

Here's my October list for #BookSpin and #CastTheDie (the first 13 books). Since it's going to be a while before I can get shelves and unpack my books, they're all ebooks or audiobooks, with the exception of The Running Man. If that one's picked then I'll check it out from the library for #LosersClub

Collection of short stories shown by the title figure's tattoos. Since this framing narrative is only referred to in a prologue, epilogue and the end of the first story, it seemed a bit pointless to me. But the stories were enjoyable, if a bit dated in some respects, not just socially but also in the expected technology.

It was a warm afternoon in early September when I first met the Illustrated Man.
