Lost Lake | Sarah Addison Allen

Pickpick

There are some authors you just like, and Addison Allen doesn‘t disappoint. Enjoyed this one on a reread as much as the first time around. I also like the discussion about the endings of books changing on a reread because in your mind the original story continued for you.

Pickpick

Sarah Addison Allen is quickly becoming one of my favorite writers. Who am I kidding? She already is!

This writer knows how to unfold a mystery! I‘ve read this book and Garden Spells and they‘re both page turners.

This book is about fitting in (or not), belonging, magic, mystery, forgiveness and redemption. Hoping to hear more stories about some of the characters in The Girl Who Chased The Moon! 🌙 #booksbrewsandbooze #sarahaddisonallen

"After you finish a book, the story still goes on in your mind. You can never change the beginning. But you can always change the end." -Lost Lake

"The Icelandic tradition of reading a new book on Christmas Eve, and into the early hours of the morning, had been important in his family's home" -Snow Blind

Cathythoughts Yes I've read Ragnar Jonassons books set in Iceland. Very good ! He has a new one , White Blind, coming out in September. I really like our hero, Ari Thor. And The Icelandic setting is interesting, especially the town cut off except for a tunnel & when it snows, cut off completely. I love the flow of his writing. 👍 7y
Jess_Read_This @Cathythoughts I can't wait for the new one! He's definitely a favorite author of mine. When Ari buys himself a book on Christmas Eve it just broke my heart. That quote and scene really stood out in Snow Blind for me. 7y
Cathythoughts What about Lost Lake ? I have never read this author? 7y

Cathythoughts I have the new Ari Thor ordered on my kindle. It's out in September, great to find a fellow fan 👍👍 7y
Jess_Read_This @Cathythoughts She's totally different than Ragnar Jonasson. Not even the same genre. She has a whimsical writing style and incorporates a few magical circumstances in her modern day stories set in the South. Each book usually involves a family tragedy, secret, and the eventual overcoming of the circumstance and finding love along the way. She does have a gorgeous writing style though. Just very different than Jonasson's. 7y
Jess_Read_This @Cathythoughts I love that it comes out In September! I last heard October! But I was going to order a print copy from Book Depository. (edited) 7y
Cathythoughts Cathythoughts@Jess_Read_This This is my attempt at tagging ( not so up to date on all this, however, live & learn ). I will give Allen a try soon and get back to you 😉 7y
Jess_Read_This @Cathythoughts Oh neat! This one is one of her newer ones. My favorites are really her older books-I'll tag them here. 7y
Jess_Read_This @Cathythoughts I really liked Garden Spells. 7y
Jess_Read_This @Cathythoughts Let me know what you think of whichever one you try! She's got a few more but I tagged the ones that stood out for me. 7y
Cathythoughts Great. Thankyou. I've stacked Garden Spells. However, as soon as I finish It ( longer than War & Peace I'd say ) I'm onto Pachinko, and then I'll take up Garden Spells. The joys of Litsy !! I'm finding great books 👍 7y

The Peach Keeper: A Novel | Sarah Addison Allen

All of Sarah Addison Allen's books involve #SomethingMagical. 💫This one starts with invitations to a society event being delayed/misdelivered during a record breaking rainstorm. Once they find their rightful recipient the invitations disappear and reappear in odd places.
