I'm feeling this quote about #poetry. I'm learning to appreciate poetry more these days, but it seems like such a personal thing, more so than any prose.

My #AAM choice for Kurt Vonnegut was a bit of a miss for me. Strange and quirky, it was a little too out there for me, the wild twists and turns kept taking me out of the story. I‘ve really enjoyed Breakfast of Champions when I read it years ago so this one might just not have been for me. #audio @Soubhiville
I‘m listening to this audiobook. OMG everybody should hear this. It‘s a collection of Vonnegut‘s graduation addresses. It starts with a wonderful biography of Vonnegut. And his speeches are humorous and deep. The first speech ends with a discussion of how politicians use hate like a drug. So meaningful now. I‘ve only just started the second one and I‘m astounded and love how he, an atheist, explains why Jesus is the prince of peace. #authoramonth
I tried Virginia Woolf for the first time and she is definitely not for me. I hope other #AuthorAMonth readers have better luck!
I haven't read a Scalzi that didn't make me cackle with laughter and this was no exception! I really love the character of the bumbling new manager who's in over his head. The cats and the dolphins were of course wonderful but I loved the mystery and spy novel of it all as well.
I'm glad #AuthorAMonth made me finally listen to this one, I've had it for a while. Plus Wil Wheaton's narration was the cherry on top! #AAM @Soubhiville
My goodness! Fantastic! I completely understand accolades, awards, and astonishment that this book has received. I agree with others who have suggested this be taught alongside Huck Finn. Everett deftly managed to honor Twain‘s work while pointing out its flaws and shortcomings with care and love. #AAM #authoramonth @Soubhiville
May #Bookspin looking good! Left pretty broad but I‘ve got picks for #Roll100 , #AAM , and #netgalleygrou‘s go!!!!
This started out a bit slow but when it got going-my goodness. I couldn‘t stop listening! I both read and listened to this one so I could spend more time with the story-it was that good. She is such an amazing writer, really drops you into the historic world and the way she wove the different element together was masterful. Highly recommend! #AAM @Soubhiville #authoramonth
Still have a few days, but thought I'd post this in case I forget. Pretty good reading month, even if I dnf'ed my #aam.

Bardugo's “Grishaverse“ is inspired by world history and mythology, and here she takes some of the classic tales of our world and shows how they might have played out in hers. The prose is gorgeously and emotionally fraught; although not really any darker than the originals, they expose the darkness in different ways.
