Loved this book!!!
I got my Goodreads goal for the year ?, so now I'm just trying to finish out the PopSugar goals. Picked this solely for the title and wasn't thrilled (NAF of romances)...until one of the characters has books relevant to her life just appear when she needs them, stalking her. Then I was sold.
PopSugar Reading Challenge 2019: a book with "pop," "sugar," or "challenge" in the title
😱 Books aren't clutter, they're my primary household decoration!
This book was absolutely enchanting. I loved all the characters, but especially Josey. I really liked the magical quality infused into this book that was so subtle and the themes of sisterhood and learning to love yourself and stand on your own. I also did not see the ending coming. Recommend for sure 👍👍

As usual, this book was whimsical and fun! Magical realism dealing all about the relationships between people. Josey was not my favorite character she has ever written, but Della Lee and Chloe made up for it. Josey is stuck under her mother's every whim trying to make up for being a difficult child instead of living her own life. Until Della Lee crawls in her window one night and works hard to change her worldview! ⭐⭐⭐⭐
“The smell of peppery warm cheese and thick, yeasty grilled bread was beginning to fill the air. She would give the sandwich to Della Lee when she got home, and while Della Lee ate the sandwich Josey would eat oatmeal pies and candy corn and packets of salty pumpkin seeds from her closet.”

Doesn‘t have the same magical flow that many of Allen‘s other novels do. I wasn‘t very invested in Josey. Allen‘s choice to have a character forgive her boyfriend for cheating was fairly infuriating. And did we ever figure out why Josey was such a shitty kid? Probably won‘t read this one again...
I read this book days ago, but I keep thinking about it. I told my husband it felt like a bear hug! ❤
Oh my goodness gracious I loved this book! Sweet, charming and completely adorable, with a sprinkling of magic. This would have been a great cozy winter read, but made for a wonderful summertime book as well.
I received this book in a swap a few years ago and I am sad I didn't get to it sooner.

Sarah Addison Allen weaves pure magic into her novels. Her novels are truly #magicmoments

15 minutes into this book and I just can‘t. I don‘t often abandoned books. But this one is not for me.
Starting tagged book.
Sweetly devourable! Exactly what I‘ve come to expect from a Sarah Addison Allen.
“Books like her. Books wanted to take care of her.”
Josey not only hides candy and other treats in a secret closet, but her chapters are also named after candy!
Loved this book! A charming tale. I felt bad for the MC, Josey, and her journey of coming into her own was a joy to read. #popsugarreadingchallenge
Also read for #llb19 for a book with a Litsy rating of more than 95%.
Going to make a dent in this one, hopefully. I started it yesterday but didn‘t get far as it was my daughter‘s birthday!
Beautiful morning audiowalk! The book is enjoyable, but a little too chick lit for me. The magic bits are great, though. #audiowalk #litsywalkers
I went to the library for the first time this year.
Hope this book is neat as her other 2 I have read. Easy reads and cute stories. Takes you into a "fantasy" land.... Away from the normal hussle and bustle of life.
Selling my book, The Girl with the Empty Suitcase, at a market today. In the downtime I'm starting The Sugar Queen. A light read so far but nice cor this time of year and my start-and-stop reading this year.
This magical book is one of my favorites. Josey, one of the main characters, has a serious sweet tooth, but she has to hide it from her overbearing mother. Throughout the course of the novel she learns to stand up for herself, and finds a pretty sweet life waiting for her when she does. Filled with just a pinch of the fantastic (like books that appear just when you need them, which sounds lovely to me) and romance too. #candyland #SeasonsReadings
#NovemberWrapUp 🍁🍂
11 books read this month, bringing me to 152 so far this year. I read The Sugar Queen every Fall! It makes it easier to let the warmer weather go. Nothing like reading about how much Josie loves those first cold snaps to make Fall and impending Winter more bearable! It‘s my #BestOfNovember But it always is! So, out of the new-to-me reads, Etched In Bone, was my favorite! Anne Bishop never disappoints! Happy reading, Littens!
It's cold, rainy and windy. That's why I'm happy to be inside with a cup of tea, a fire and a book 😊

Catch up for yesterday's prompt. This is a sweet book (pun intended) 😉And that's quite a kiss.

So lovely!! @GypsyKat
There were a couple of deals I couldn‘t pass up today! 😉 #BookHaul #KindleSale
Three words: Whimsical. Quirky. Magical. I really enjoyed this book. Magical realism is so fascinating to me. Josey was an endearing and lovely MC and you wanted her to find happiness. Chloe was a lost and interesting girl that you wanted to hug. Della Lee was a hilarious and made you laugh a lot. Definitely recommend.
I don't know much about this book except it has magic, Southern Belles that are terrible at being Southern Belles and lots of sweets! Plan to delve into this one this weekend!
"Books can be possessive, can't they? You're walking around in a bookstore and a certain one will jump out at you, like it had moved there on its own, just to get your attention. Sometimes what's inside will change your life, but sometimes you don't even have to read it. Sometimes it's a comfort just to have a book around."
TBR pile for April/May. It just keeps growing!

The Sugar Queen - Sarah Addison Allen
The Book of Lost Things - John Connolly
The Norton Book of Classical Literature
Obviously, I needed something sweet to go with these great books. Since the last few days have been so warm, I was in need of some mochi ice cream!😋

Yay!! Im so excited, and spoiled! So many cool things! I‘m excited to read all of these, the tagged book sounds really interesting! @JoRead Thank you so much, I love it all! #EasterBasketBookSwap
Thanks @JoeStalksBeck for hosting!
I literally couldn‘t hold #Luna back from the excitement long enough to take a pic without her photo bombing 😹 I think she ate a piece of grass, not sure how worried I should be 😳 #catsoflitsy
1. Chloe of The Sugar Queen, books she “needs” just appear, she is sweet with good friends and I‘d like to make a living making cheese and tomato sandwiches...seems pretty uncomplicated all around.
2. Good Will Hunting
3. Thoughts of my best grandma or childhood memories in general.
4. This is a day late, so anyone who would like to play...tag, you‘re it!

Today I needed a lighthearted read. So I am going to my go to author for this - Sarah Addison Allen. I have read all of her books and have loved every one of them. She adds the perfect amount of magic to her writing. I am 44 pages in and feel like I am home.
1. A stuffed dog with a radio in his belly, sounds creepy now but it was awesome! 🎶
2. Sugar queen has gone to many people, I just gave Pachinko to my brother-in-law and he dug it a lot.
3. Dark side...46, I have to say my 40's have been the best so far🙌🏻
4. I live 9 miles from the hospital I was born in, had my girls there, but hope to move somewhere warm when I retire. 🤞🏼
5. Done
Happy Birthday @jesshowbooks 🎂🎉 #friyayintro
I love the magical realism Sarah Addison Allen puts in her books. I'd love it if random books appeared whenever I needed something! Also, my #24in48 kinda Fell apart today... so I'm shooting for #24in72 😅 #magicalrealism #lightheartedreads
