Sorry if I‘m late to the game - finishing my classes has killed me over the past two weeks.😫 #booked2020 spring accomplishments/prompts: #aboutgenocide was Maus (which I technically read in winter so take that as you will), #silkpunk is Jade City (still reading, because college) & #animaloncover was HP & the Sorcerer‘s Stone👌🏼 here‘s hoping to getting through some more of the #summer prompts🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

BarbaraTheBibliophage Great job! You‘re not too late for this season‘s drawing! 4y
Cinfhen Well done 🧡You can read outside the seasons too!!! And every prompt completed (at any time) counts towards the quarterly drawings 😀 Hope you have some time off now - relax & rest 📚☀️This is your #OfficialSecondQuarterEntry 🎊🎊 4y

Singout
Mehso-so

My final #Booked2020 for this quarter. I tried Jade City for #silkpunk but gave up quickly: too violent for me. This is Asian (but not #PanAsian?) a sweet and reflective, but not gripping, Japanese novel. The premise: the narrator is dying soon, and the (badly dressed) Devil will give him an additional day of life for each category of objects he can eliminate from the world. Each one prompts insights into how he has lived and what really matters.

4/5
#Silkpunk fantasy novel full of action, politics and clan warfare over jade and it‘s magical powers. This was a perfect escape read for me and I loved the East Asian influences in here. There could‘ve been more character development but still so fun! I started this before the #EasterExtravganza but finished it this week so counting it! 😝

What a fantastic read! I share this passage because even Avatar Kyoshi had to deal with misogyny. I have really enjoyed exploring the life pre-Avatar Aang and I love getting to come back to the world of bending! Kyoshi is so great and it is definitely not what I was expecting to get. Pretty sure I can count this for #SilkPunk #Spring #Booked2020 given the heavy eastern influences in Avatar. Can‘t wait to read more this summer!

BarbaraTheBibliophage If it‘s Asian and Fantasy / Steam punk - ish, you‘re good. ♥️📚 5y
bibliobard @BarbaraTheBibliophage definitely Asian and definitely Fantasy! 5y

Day 14: #newtoyougenre #silkpunk #auldlangreads I had never heard of Silkpunk until I saw it on Litsy. If I were to explore it, Jade City looks like a good one to start with. Any other recommendations?

The Poppy War | R.F. Kuang

The story is familiar, but its execution feels more complex, nuanced, and mature. Its depiction of war is accurately horrifying. There‘s one scene where I had to close the book to take a break. I‘m definitely going to read the next one.

Cinfhen I believe this book falls under the category of #SilkPunk @erzascarletbookgasm #Booked2020 5y

A heavily threaded bit of #silkpunk, but enjoyable. #readinglog #fantasy
