Poor Sarah lost her mother recently & her dad has a new fiancée, Annie. Annie is sweet as pie when dad is around but barely disguises her contempt when he isn‘t. But Sarah won‘t tell her dad. Another favorite featuring yet another abandoned #SweetValley mansion! In this 2nd spring break, Jessica finds a barnacle-encrusted necklace that soon captures all of her attention & seems to cause recurring nightmares. When Liz finds it, she falls victim to it next—with cousin Robin following suit as they all work as extras in the movie filmed in the mansion. Working together, they learn the real story of the Keller mansion & the cursed necklace!

JenlovesJT47 Is your book a smaller version than the normal size like mine is? I don‘t remember why they did that. It always annoyed me the book wasn‘t the same size as the rest of them. 14h

Mine is actually a normal size… the background book with the picture of a (not cursed) ruby pendant is actually huge— it‘s a coffee table book from the Field Museum about their gem collection, so it‘s a bit misleading. My copy is a bit tattered though! I think the only small ones I have were from the UK originally! 13h

JenlovesJT47 Hmm I dunno why mine is small, I don‘t have it around to look at but it might have been one that was 99 cents or something like that so it was smaller. It‘s about the same size as a Senior Year book. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 13h

This is another memorable installment! New student Anna Reynolds is not only different because of her interest in aerobics & health food but also because she‘s SVMS‘ first deaf & Asian student. Adept at reading lips, this is still a huge transition, but she quickly makes friends with both twins. Cammi Adams seems to be avoiding Anna— but only because she knows all about being deaf from living with her parents. Cammi risks her secret to help Anna!

This one is so much fun!! Across SVMS, students are randomly paired off for two week “marriages” to learn to budget, compromise on important decisions, prepare a healthy meal & keep an egg baby alive. The pairings make this fun: Elizabeth/Bruce Patman, Jessica/Rick Hunter, Lila/Todd, Ellen/Winston Egbert, etc. Rick‘s teasing covers his genuine feelings for Jessica & it‘s clear she feels the same way! Even Bruce goes all in for his new family!

This book opens with Elizabeth‘s frustration over a missing turquoise sweater that she can‘t find in Jessica‘s disaster of a room. But when all the Unicorns except for Jessica fall victim to the Sweet Valley Swiper (a missing coat, silver earrings, Lila‘s Watchman), it‘s Liz & Amy to the rescue, resurrecting the SVK Super Snoopers to catch the case & catch the thief red-handed! I always love when a twin-switch helps save the day!

It‘s the “first” (okay, not the actual first!) boy/girl dance at SVMS. Lila‘s awful new neighbor, Veronica Brooks keeps bragging about her old school & has her competitive sights set on none other than Todd! And when Jessica ditches Aaron for Bruce, Liz consoles Aaron—& winds up kissing him! But for a #SweetValleyValentinesDay, Ellen hosts another boy/girl party where all the mixed-up couples can be set to rights! Make-up kisses & a food fight!

JenlovesJT47 Lol I have read almost none of the earlier books, I am coming to realize. I know I read the Mandy Miller one where she‘s sick, then I started reading them in the 60s. I got earlier books here and there when I could, like the first 5 or so. So I‘m thoroughly enjoying this read through! 7d

Jess & Lila skip gym class to meet TV star Kent Kellerman. Liz takes off to warn them but only Jess & Lila get caught. As punishment they have to clean blackboards after school & have no after school activities for 2 weeks. This cramps Jess‘s style because she is the star basketball player & the championship game is coming up. She somehow convinces Liz to do a twin switch so she can play in the game. Saint Liz fesses up after Jess wins the ⬇️

JenlovesJT47 Championship game and earns MVP while posing as Liz. Liz gets back at her & makes her do Liz‘s punishment for a week. Twin switches are always fun. In this fifth #SweetValleyChristmas for the twins, it‘s Christmas Eve & the twins stay behind to exchange gifts to each other while everyone else goes to the airport for Alice‘s parents. Liz wrote a special story & a framed photo while Jess planned ahead & bought tickets for a concert & the bus to LA. Their disappointment leads to an epic fight & special harlequin dolls lead to an epic adventure in a fantasy land to bring them together again! ⬇️

JenlovesJT47 Yes, me too! Lila‘s Story was the only good one out of all 5 of those superstar stories. And don‘t get me started on the TV show!! 😤 Of course I watched it when it was on but I was so mad! Lila— a redhead?!?! Todd — blonde?? No no no no lol. The twins and Winston were spot on though lol. 1w

TorieStorieS @JenlovesJT47 I know!! I really didn‘t watch much of the show because it was just too different and I couldn‘t handle it! But I may try to give it a watch at some point… but maybe not, because I don‘t know that I would be able to handle it any better now. My husband remembers the show better than I did because his younger sisters would watch it, so I always think it‘s funny that he has some frame of reference for these books!🤣 1w

JenlovesJT47 I have it on dvd somewhere but I have never been able to bring myself to watch the whole thing 😆 And if you read those 3 special edition SVH books that are about the show it tells you just how totally they screw up some of the storylines! Like Jess can be a bit of a sociopath sometimes especially in the early SVH books, but they take it to a totally different level. No bueno 😬 1w

Jess & Liz go for a 3-day joint stay at the hospital to have their tonsils out. Such a contrast to the way things are done today! Their stay is made more exciting by 2 contraband turtles that another kid has sneaked into the ward. The kids amuse themselves with turtle races. 4⭐️🐢🐢👯‍♀️
