What a beautiful little book. It‘s all conversations between the author and Gilda Radner, who were best friends for years. I love the glimpse into the mind of Gilda, what it was like talking to her. She was an amazing comedienne.

#throwback to a few weeks ago, when I was on vacation and started this one. Finally finished it today and glad to be done with it. Pretty disappointing. A good premise, but I had a ton of issues with the execution.

Hooked_on_books This one has sat on my shelves for years unread, in part because of mixed reviews. When I finally give it a go, I‘m going to be more willing to bail than I might otherwise if it isn‘t working. 1d

5 Stars • "The Importance of Being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde is a comedic play that satirizes the Victorian era's societal norms and values, particularly focusing on marriage, identity, and the notion of "Bunburying," a term Wilde coined to describe the act of creating an alter ego to escape social obligations.

Suet624 Hmmm..this makes me realize I have not read any Oscar Wilde's work. I've read a lot about him but nothing done by him. Hmmm.. 18h
suvata @Suet624 Personally, he‘s one of my top 10 authors. His wit and sarcasm reminds me of Jane Austen. 15h

This has everything I usually love in a book…and yet, I didn‘t love it. I have no idea why really. Wrong timing? I know nothing about Our Town, the play the story centres around (but I never want to read about Emily or the Stage Manager again), I felt nothing much for the characters and just felt distanced from the whole thing. In fact I nearly gave up. The last 50 pages or so kind of won me round but I still feel ambivalent.

This was such a delightful book! I have never been that curious about Shakespeare‘s plays, but hearing Judi Dench talk about her experience playing different characters was a treat.

Loved the banter between Judi and Brendan, it was very entertaining.

If you are a fan of Shakespeare, Judi Dench or if you are just curious about his work (like I was), read this!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
