My scholars continue to amaze me! The level of reading and the way they give reviews has me excited and extremely proud. I‘ve never heard of this author but after my scholar gave her review, I was ready to read it now!

This is a really cute and funny series I‘m going to start up again. 🥰 “Crime” #ScarathonDailyPrompts #TeamSlaughter @Clwojick
I just can't finish this book...I've been poking at it all morning but find myself finding something else to do instead of reading. I've done laundry, dishes, and watched a college football game.
I've decided to let it go. It reminded me of Lemony Snicket in some ways-another middle grade book I couldn't finish.
I've got a stack of books I'm excited to read and decided not to push through this one.
Got my coffee, ASMR video, and a whole day to get through this book. I've enjoyed what I've read so far and hope that continues. Yay for weekend reads!
⭐️⭐️⭐️
I really loved this series when it first started. This one was ok but had less of the spark of the first couple. I'll finish the series as there's only one book left, but I'm not feeling pressed to do it anytime soon.

I‘m ready for a break from this series and I think kiddo is, too. She begged for reading time with the first three but this was more of a struggle, so it‘s time for a switch before continuing.
I have issues with the “he‘s been awful to me but now I realize that I really like him” continued from the previous book, so I‘m definitely keen for something else. Perhaps we‘re ready for HP4...
I found this installment problematic (see previous post about boys being mean to girls) for several reasons. Sabrina develops a magical addiction, an unknown uncle appears, psycho Red Riding Hood and her slavering pet Jabberwocky terrorize the town...meh.
Second finish of #AnyWayYouReadathon done and progress made for #BookSpinBingo
This scene made me put down the book and have a whole talk with kiddo about consent, “boys will be boys” bullshit, and it never being ok to buy into the “he‘s being mean because he likes you” toxic mindset. I‘ve seen it coming (it‘s a reread but she was too young to remember) and this was the boiling point. Let‘s stop normalizing abuse and bullying, ok? And hold everyone (boys/girls/adults) accountable for their behavior.
Context below:
Second book in the series, and lots of action leading up to a cliffhanger (whole series does this, btw). Sabrina is angry, furious even, for most of the book, and her distrust of Everafters turns into full-blown bigotry and paranoia. The sisters are starting school, only to get pulled into a gruesome mystery. Will they ever be able to focus on finding their parents? #SeriesRead2021 #MGMarch
A low pick for this reread. Kiddo wants to binge the series, so here we go (although it took over a month for this one). Someday I‘ll remember not to do really labor-intensive voices/accents for books in series, as I‘ve now committed myself to Granny‘s German accent, Charming‘s snotty English accent, Hamstead‘s piggy high-pitch voice, and who knows what else. Counts for #MGMarch (number 6, I think) and #SeriesRead2021
