This was a fun read! I loved the existing connections to The Wizard of Oz but also loved the new additions A. J. brought to the story. Would definitely recommend to any Wizard of Oz fan! 🪄🫧💚
I‘m either 2 days late OR 5 days early for #FridayHappyReadingHour 🤣 But either way, here I am with my wine, my cheese & crackers and my Toto ebook (also pictured is my hubby‘s iced tea lol). The laundry from vacation is all done and put away, groceries for the week have been purchased and I even got a car wash and vacuumed out the sand from our beach day 🙌 How many hours until Friday….?

pickMy book club‘s selection for this month made me want to reread Oz and rewatch the movie! The author was inspired to write it by this photo of Maud Baum & Judy Garland. Not great literature, but a fun read.
pickThe characters are well-rounded and realistic. I've always had a soft spot for Galinda's journey, but the main focus is on our beloved Elphaba. She has a rough start but learns how to accept herself, her flaws, and her knack for being labeled a trouble-maker. This book deals with heavy content such as racism and genocide. It had me pulling out a dictionary several times, and I've read this multiple times- a sign of a truly good read.
pickWhen Toto & his human Dorothy are swept away in a tornado, he was not expecting a land of magic, political feuds, & revolution. Being a Good Dog was going to get him taken away by Animal Control, so it‘s time to see what a Bad Dog can do.
I laughed out loud so much. A modernized retelling, poking fun @ a lot of tech bro culture & far right wing masculinity, while also providing loving references to the wide spread cultural impact of Oz.🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗
