Makes a deal with her old intended who surprise is not actually into women
And whew ….

AmyG This is when things, IMHO, stated to get a bit unbelievable. 3mo
BarkingMadRead @AmyG yes! A little too convenient! 3mo
AmyG @BarkingMadRead There were way too many coincidences…it was ridiculous. 3mo

CoffeeNBooks @AmyG Agreed! 3mo
Librarybelle @AmyG @BarkingMadRead A little too unbelievable and too convenient indeed! 3mo
Karisa Yea, a stretch but still a fun ride to me. Ondine was my favorite character. So fierce and stayed true to her heart. 3mo
mcctrish I agree @AmyG either this book needed to be a tome and have everyone‘s story fleshed out or CA needed to narrow her focus and tighten the narrative #throwsideasatthewallwhatsticks 3mo
TheBookHippie @mcctrish 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 3mo
TheBookHippie @Karisa it was fun! 3mo
IndoorDame @mcctrish well said! I agree with the group. This was a fun ride overall, but I drifted in and out with buy in and this section was definitely one of the ‘get real‘ sections 3mo
Read4life So many coincidences and, yes, a fun ride. There were times where I thought ‘it looks like we‘re heading … but that is too unbelievable.‘ And then we‘d go there. 3mo
Larkken @Karisa Ondine was def my fav too 💕 3mo
Larkken @Read4life @AmyG I think there were a couple jump the shark moments for sure. The recurrence of Picasso coming into the narrative was too strange! Tighten it up so the book makes more sense and you need less coincidences, CA! 3mo
vlwelser I actually didn't mind that she reconciled with this dude. It was a convenient way to explain how she ended up with the mas. But totally unbelievable except in a novel. 3mo
AmyG @vlwelser Agreed. But you can only use so many convenient plot instances before it becomes unbelievable. (edited) 3mo
vonnie862 Unbelievable but I'm glad she got her hands on the painting. 3mo
DebinHawaii I agree with the group. It was too many coincidences (so some eye rolls) but I did like Ondine making the deal with the baker so she would be a partner. I agree @Karisa she was my favorite by far. Julie was just a blip, not drawn nearly enough & Celine drove me a bit nuts with her decisions. 3mo
julieclair I really liked Ondine and her gutsy moves. Yes, too many coincidences, but for some reason that didn‘t bother me with this book (although it often does with other books). 3mo
mollyrotondo I liked Ondine‘s story so much more than Celine‘s that I didn‘t mind the stretches CA went to in order to start wrapping up her story. I was very convenient that Ondine was able to reconcile things with the baker but it worked and allowed things to fall into place. I didn‘t think it was totally necessary to have Ondine steal the painting and then go back again years later to get the signature. That was too long winded of a conflict. 3mo
TheBookHippie @mollyrotondo IT WAS SOOOO MUCH! 😵‍💫 3mo
