Ruthiella I wonder if Mrs. Jamison had actually even met her sister-in-law prior to this visit? I‘m sure Lady Glenmire was bored stiff with only Mrs. J (and Carlo!) for company at first. 2y
mcctrish What a chapter?! #meangirlsofcranford first they don‘t know what to call Lady G, then they won‘t talk to her at all, then a fortnight passes and an invitation to brooch it up ( what bedazzling was before the bedazzler was invented ) with tea makes it everything okay. But the highlight was as @Bookwormjillk said, the unexpected cat poop lace #cranfordcrazies 2y

Vansa This has to be one of the best pieces of writing I've read- the absolutely merciless send up of pretensions of class snobbery,its perfectly relevant even today.I died laughing at how indignant they are that Mr.Mulliner is reading the paper before they are!Oh,and the hilarious description of how the narrator is trying to take 2 lumps of sugar surreptitiously,and fails at the attempt! 2y
