If you're looking for a sweet love story, this is not it. The three voices of the novel are strong. The characters they belong to are flawed and human. As I read and moved further along, I was nervous as to how Jones would choose to end the book, but I was pleasantly surprised when she stuck to what seemed true to her characters (at least for me).
Congratulations, @corycatelyn for reaching 5k! Thank you for this awesome opportunity!
Bucket List
1. Graduate from URI with MLIS so I may be a full-time librarian.
2. Finish my novel.
3. Live long enough to watch my daughter grow up and be here for her as long as possible!
1. American Sonnets for My Past and Future Assasin: Terrance Hayes
2. The Carrying: Ada Limon

Thank you!
George and I started reading An American Marriage by Tayari Jones today. Don't want to put it down, but LIFE...

Because Michelle McNamara passed away while writing this book, it becomes a bit repetitive and disjointed in sections. However, this is a chilling, riveting exploration into the true darkness of some humans.
Do not read if true crime isn't your thing!
1. All of them!
2. Video games: Final Fantasy series, but Scrabble is my favorite board game!
3. Jeopardy

George and I are bunking today's festivities. It is too hot for us and the introvert in me would rather read! I'm not usually into true crime, but there is something about this that has grabbed my attention and won't let go!
Happy Birthday, America!

Not my usual jam, but it was recommended to me. The celebrity, Evelyn Hugo, tells her story to the narrator, Monique Grant. Hugo's Tell-All is the star of the plot while Grant falls short in the background; Why has Hugo picked Grant, an emerging writer with no apparent connection to Evelyn, to craft her memoir? This question kept me reading through the tediousness of all seven husbands. An entertaining, though somewhat predictable, read.
1. Typically, My Little Pony: The Movie Soundtrack. It is my three-year-old daughter's favorite thing to dance around to, and let's face it. I'm an 80s baby. Ponies are my jam.

Friends:
Would you take a moment to welcome my husband @JamesL ?
His interests include electricity, camping, and hiking. He loves Science Fiction and Fantasy most, but is pretty open-minded. He enjoys podcasts, especially Lore and Stuff You Should Know.
Thanks!
I began reading Circe last night. I was up way past my bedtime; I didn't want to put it down. I love mythology, but Circe's voice is intoxicating. I can't wait to spend the rest of today on my couch immersed in her world.
1. Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy
2. Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey
3. Joey and Pacey! or Castle and Beckett (until the writing went insane!

There are parts of this novel I love: the alternating point-of-view between the mother and daughter, their voices, and the character driven plot that dives into themes of immigrant life, the working class, and the relationship between mother and daughter.
As a writer/library student, I also love that this debut novel comes from Xhenet Aliu who is both a writer and an academic librarian.

While surrounded by other dance moms at my daughter's dance class this morning, I decided to be my true introvert self and read this on OverDrive. Super quick read! The story is a bit silly, but it held my attention.
1. My shower-loving tabby cat. I adore her, but she transforms into a mop each morning.
2. Altered Carbon.
3. White. Her name is Claudia.
4. Pasta salad.
5. The Carrying by Ada Limon. Due out in August!

It took me too long to get through this novel. There are far too many characters--mostly flat cliches. No one to really grab on to or cheer for. Don't get me wrong; I have read most of Palahniuk's work and I knew what to expect. If you don't like satire or have never read him, don't start here. This novel is heavy in theory, criticism, and poking fun at Americans.
1. Cumberland Public Library: the amazing place I work!
