Forgiveness means it finally becomes unimportant for you to hit back. You're done. It doesn't necessarily mean you want to vacation together.

Ahhh that epilogue! I can't wait for the next one to come out.
This is so good on audio. I wasn't sure if the format would work, but it 100% does.
This series is so! Good! There's such a long hold list for the third book 😭
I've been savoring these essays for months and finally finished. Marilynne Robinson is fantastic and thoughtful and I loved these essays. This edition also comes with a conversation between her and President Obama, which was a delight.
This one really sucked me in! It hit all my buttons: weird town with secrets, creepy family who everyone is scared of, Nancy Drew-type protagonist.
I thought I was going to love this - magical family dynasty who isn't supposed to use magic but is, plus the Hamptons? Sold. Except I hated the writing and Freya's story line was The Worst. Dnf'd.
Taking a break from binging #Riverdale to read some of the source. Who else is obsessed with #Riverdale? 🙋
Another big stack of library holds came in 😻
Quite funny, quick read. I can see why it stays popular.
I did a mini #24in48 with a goal of 6 hours, which I hit 🍾
Finished:
Lumberjanes 1-4
Smoke and Mirrors
Made progress on:
The Givenness of Things
Darker Shade of Magic (ebook)
Sleeping Giants (audio)
Getting ready for #24in48 by trying to finish off a few currently reading, picking up a bunch of library holds, and working through the long list of unread books I own.
I love Mindy Kaling,so of course I loved her new essays. I think my favorite was the last, though, and I wish it had been up front. She talks about how important it is to work hard and how weird it is that we talk about hard work but then condemn people as workaholics. Really thought provoking.
I love Mindy Kaling and her narration of this audiobook is fantastic. Also, WHO IS HER WHITE HOUSE HOTTIE?!?
My Black Panther hold came in just in time for #24in48 and #diversathon TBR prep
Trying Mr. Dickens again. Maybe this time will stick. (With guest appearance from Ruthie 😸)
Steampunk-y book set in China where gunpowder has been used in engines. This book takes place during the Opium Wars in China and deals with empire, British colonization, Opium addiction, family and more. Great adventure with a really great protagonist.
"These Christians, if they read their Bibles, are not much impressed by what they find there"
Marilynne Robinson has no time for the religious right.
First read of 2017! I saw part of the twist coming but when the whole thing was revealed I was, once again, shocked.
The narrator keeps calling the eponymous spy "Gump-like." As in, Forrest Gump.
I don't remember the last time I read a book in just two sittings. This lived up to all the hype and then some.
My library hold came in just in time for the long weekend 😊
Miss Marple is just the best. She tricks everyone into thinking she's just a little old lady and then shows them they're fools.
Finished this on my commute today. Really great insights into the ways that slavery was justified so that plantation holders like Jefferson could continue to make money. Also has some insights into Jeff as a family man /gaslighter extraordinaire. Must read for anyone interested in the founding fathers, slavery, or capitalism.
I've been in a bit of a slump, so picked up some Christie at the library today ☺️
This was really fantastic. A funny and interesting look at Lincoln, Garfield, and McKinley's assassinations, as well as links to contemporary American politics.
This is one of my picks for books to read if you love The West Wing over at erinkwed.wordpress.com
Written for those of us who have retreated into the Bartlet administration to escape this election season😳
This was a great start to the series - I loved the historical elements. I also like the Griffiths has non-detectives with interesting jobs, in this case magician. Looking forward to reading the next one.

Man, this book. I knew it would be heavy but it is quietly devastating. I had to pause and sit for a bit, after the part about the profits of Black birth (that babies being born was listed as a percent dollar growth).
This was a fascinating book from the perspective of a Viet Cong spy, delving into the complexities of the Vietnam War. Unfortunately, it really dragged in some parts and wasn't super engrossing.
I am obsessed with the Ruth Galloway series so I had to try her new series 😊
Ruthie also loved Saga.
It's nice to see good things finally happening to these characters but it does make me scared that the next volume will blow everything up 🙊
Cozy and tragic and heartwarming all at the same time. I read this in two sittings and want to start all over.
Second pick for the readathon was Saga Vol 6, which might make for some serious tone whiplash.
My first pick for the readathon. A little bit late rising this morning, ready to hit the stacks.
About halfway through Angels and Demons. There are some very eye roll worthy lines (of COURSE he feels a "growing attraction" #noonecaresaboutyourboner). Overall, though, a fun and exciting listen so far.
I started this Marilynne Robinson last night. 20 pages in and I see why everyone is so obsessed.
Library haul! Thinking of starting with Your Heart is a Muscle the Size of a Fist
Really fascinating look at intersections of class and race in the 50s.
Picked this up on a daily deal after hearing @bookriot contributors rave about it and hearing the author's great NPR interview.
