A whole lotta comic recs for WandaVision fans over on Book Riot:

A great mini-series exploring Vision and his newly created synthezoid family. Never could've anticipated the twists this one was going to take, and it was so good. And the artwork is excellent. Just 4 synthezoids trying to fit into suburbia--until it all goes violently wrong.
This book was quite heartbreaking. I tagged it because today is my first cataract surgery. I‘m a little anxious, even though I know this surgery is very common and relatively minor. It‘s just the thought of someone touching my eyes that has me a little freaked out. I know I‘ll be fine though, and I‘m looking forward to improved vision.
Look fam I read things 📚
90% of what I read was comics & manga but this infograph doesn't need to know that. @Blueberry
3.5 out of 5 stars. I didn‘t like that there was animal abuse. Other than that, I was pretty good. I put volume 2 on hold at the library ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
I wasn‘t grabbed by the immediate pitch for this series (Vision builds himself a family and tries to be normal in the suburbs of DC) but all the high praise I saw convinced me to give it a shot. SO WORTH IT YOU GUYS THIS VOLUME IS EXCELLENT. The inherent creepiness of the suburbs is cranked to 11 as the Visions struggle to define and achieve normalcy, plus the art is absolutely fantastic.
This was a little darker than I was expecting but I kind of liked that. I thought their speech style was a little clunky at times but overall not bad.
1. Ken Follett books and jellyfish :)
2. I like dust jackets, but I usually take them off when I read so I don't mess them up.
3. The library, or used book sales!

This was different than what I expected, but I still really liked it! It‘s actually quite thought-provoking and even though Vision is a part of Marvel and The Avengers it has little to do with that.

This was a lot better than I originally expected it to be. The Vision builds himself the perfect family with a wife and two kids and lives in the suburbs. His ultimate goal is to live a normal life. What comes after is a story of keeping up appearances and the darkness that lingers underneath that. This is kind of slow paced and not really action packed, but more of a psychological tense story about prejudices and otherness.
This is an amazing story! Can‘t wait to jump into the second part. This one‘s ending is a little intense...
Some comics you just have to read with your Cat. Vision creates a family and moves to a D.C. suburb. What could go wrong? Everything....lol. So good!
Ohhh, this was good. (Side note: I‘ve never been disappointed by a recommendation from the great staff at Chicago Comics and this was no exception.) Like the back of the book says, The Vision just wants to be human and, above all, normal. So he makes a family — wife, son and daughter. They settle in the suburbs where things soon start to go wrong — it‘s hard work being normal. Things get really dark quickly. A fun but also thought provoking read.
Tonight‘s reading is a recommendation from Chicago Comics, one of my favorite places in the city.
Finally got around to finishing this. I didn‘t know anything about The Vision prior to reading this volume. I feel like I would have enjoyed it more if I had known more of his history. It‘s a good beginning to a series, not a ton of details nothing gets wrapped up in the end, it leaves you wanting more. For me though not knowing history of The Vision character I‘m not going to continue reading. It‘s hard to pick between pick and so-so.
Coffee, comic book, and a cat. What more do you need on a late Monday morning?
This was so, so creepy and chilling and also very very good. #graphicnovels

Currently reading. This month is all about graphic novels for me.
Got 3 books in the mail and picked one up while running errands.
This is not my norm, but it came up twice this month as two book club reads. It was pretty good, considering. I don't keep up with the Marvel Universe so I think I missed a few things in regards to the Avengers, but nonetheless would recommend and will probably finish the 2nd one.
Going to spend Sunday evening with this and a few of my monthly comics.
🌟🌟🌟🌟
Darker and more melancholy than I had anticipated, yet with a nuanced and timely message (especially in the current U.S. political climate) about acceptance.
"You cannot hate what you do not know. They do not know you, therefore they are incapable of hating you. Perhaps I might concede they hate the of you. But if this is true, then your task is a simple one. You merely have to show them that are not that idea."
.
These are words I wish more people would take to heart. We are all so much more than stereotypes or preconceived notions.
Sleep's for the weak.
Although I should think about partaking, since I almost put the wrong week in there.
Wow!!! I definitely have not kept up with the marvel universe, but it wasn't hard to understand what was going on. Definitely a different take on The Vision and the superhero life. A story about love, marriage, and family and what one does for it all. One of my favorite comics which I must own soon!
You guys!!!...I think I kinda over did it...? I went crazy...I shouldn't be allowed to run wild on my local library's website with a "hold" button right in front of me. ??????????♀️

I was surprised by how much I liked this. I'm not typically into superhero comics, and I don't know any of the backstory or previous iterations of the Vision, but I didn't feel lost. Ultimately it's a story about love, marriage and family. It's about the absurdities of them, and how they are magnified dangerously in superbeings. This is my #V pick for #LitsyAtoZ.
Haha this is going to be good!

What should I do on my day off? My little tourist town library is THE BEST!
This book really bowled me over in a way I wasn't expecting. A superhero version of a very dark suburban thriller. Loved it & can't wait to read the next installment.
#Riotgrams, books and treats! Christmas tea is even yummy in February.
Another big stack of library holds came in 😻
Somehow the husband noticed I abandoned The Vision (he who has NEVER noticed anything I've ever read except for this). "What happened?! Finish it!! And then I want you to tell me about it!"
I was not totally excited going into this book because Vision is not my fav super hero. But it was an extremely well done story, with a cool narrative device
My husband's brain is going bonkers while watching me read The Vision. I think he is somewhere in the house right now queuing up every single Avengers movie. I don't have the heart to tell him I'm reading it for a reading challenge 😀

That ... did not progress the way I expected it to. Super creepy, amusing, and disturbing on a number of levels.
Just started reading this. Yes, it is creepy af, how can you tell?
I'm not sure that I was prepared for how good, and how dark this was. Can't wait to read more of this.
2016 summed up in one comic panel. #vision #ifeelyoumrsvision
4/5 This is my first foray into Marvel comics and I enjoyed it (George and Nora LOL) though I think i wasn't able to appreciate it as much as someone that reads a ton of Marvel and knows a lot about the other characters/heros featured and mentioned and the history of the Avengers. I usually stick to Vertigo and Image since they have many stand alone series so I won't have that problem but the Marvel movies have peaked my interest in their comics.
Love, love, love! This has everything I could want: subtle creepiness, a robot family with children and THAT seduction scene! It's clever, it's an exploration of the human condition via those who aren't quite human, and I got so much more reread info this. I have two further rereads planned for the near future, and I plan on letting the finale settle in a month, then binging on the whole series. I renounce DC for stealing King away, too.
4.5/5 stars. So glad I took Grimlock's recommendations and read this.
I'm getting a lot more from this on reread. I'm more able to fully process because I'm not reading a month at a time do I can see direct correlations between scenes that I was reading up to six months apart at the first go. I didn't think I could love this more than I did, but now I know I can and I do.
