This is the first book I‘ve ever requested that my library system purchase. Third in a series (why would the library only have #1 & 2?) Anyway, I digress. Sweet, easy reads with characters you‘re going to care about at the end. I felt like I wanted to personally know this family. Feel good books. You‘re going to want to read all three.

If you‘re a fan of historical fiction, this book chronicles very closely the real life of Alice Roosevelt. Fabulous look into her life as a President‘s daughter, and an inside look at Washington D.C. over a span of seven decades. Loved everything about it. I‘ll be reading this one again.

This book will change the way you look at your life. It will. Read it.

I enjoy books that teach me something while telling their story. This one was exceptional. The heonyeo of Jeju Island are truly a dying breed. This book chronicles the life of two friends who survived not only a dangerous diving lifestyle, but wars and other evils throughout Korea‘s volatile political history. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This one for me was just “meh.” I pushed through it, but didn‘t either love it or hate it.

I read the two book series (The Deep Blue Sea for Beginners is Book two) and I enjoyed them. The second moves a bit more slowly but is still an enjoyable story.

I read this one, and Accidental Woman which is the second book in the pair. I enjoyed the storylines, but the stories did develop somewhat slowly with a great deal of detail in between. This is the first I‘ve read of Barbara Delinsky.

It took me awhile to wade through the story of F Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, but a worthwhile investment. Their chaotic and driven lives nearly destroyed them both and Scott died of a heart attack In his early 40‘s. Despite all the trappings their successes and failures brought them they stayed together. While not a biography, the author does a fine job of creating a realistic, readable, and believable storyline.

Okay, so I‘ll admit I had to scan this one and hunt for the major plot points becauuuusseee....I swapped it without realizing I hadn‘t read it yet. Dumb. Anyway. While the writing for the main couple was quick witted and fun, the characters of Adam and his mother were completely unlikeable. Boo. Also hated the violence their relationship culminated in. 😕

Next up on my ARC TBR list....I can‘t wait to dive into this one!

Just finished this early release by Colin Falconer about a young Jewish couple immigrating to America in the early 1900‘s. It chronicles their lives in an amazing way, taking them from the tenements of New York City to elite society and back again, while incorporating the events of two world wars. So, I‘m trying to “read” three books at a time...one Audible, one print, and one Kindle. I‘m enjoying this listen (read by the author), and appreciate her no nonsense, no drama approach to life, and that she doesn‘t take herself too seriously. Enjoyable story time!

An intriguing look at the Bluets of the Kentucky hills, and the WPA library project of President Roosevelt‘s New Deal Acts. Though the story is fictional, so many true historical facts are woven into this novel. Cussy Mary is one of the Bluets, and gained a position as a Pack Horse Librarian. This is the story of her struggles both on and off the book route. Racism, miners‘ unions, and pure hate were obstacles faced by these Kentucky people. 4⭐️

This book was recommended so I picked it up on a whim. Never, have I ever, wanted so badly to reach into a book and throttle a character, all while screaming “Get your s#@t together woman!” Anyway, not a single likable character in the book, yet it kept me up until 2 am finishing it. Gah!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ an ARC of #TheGuestBook arrived a few weeks ago, and while it took me a bit to get fully involved in the story, I fell in love with the entire thing. Old money, new money, politics, family, keeping up appearances, and the choices made to keep it all in tact. Wow! A sweeping story of four generations of the Milton family. Blake‘s writing allows you to envision the family‘s island home, feel their hurts, and become one of the family.

I received this as an advance digital copy from netgalley. Good story. Psychological thriller, involving illegal surrogacy and those who attempt to exploit it.

A beautifully written story, part coming of age, part murder mystery. There were times I stopped to read a sentence, or two, or a paragraph over and over again because the words had been strung together so perfectly.

Cute story about marriage and the struggles of mid-life. About forgiveness, strength, and the courage to rebuild yourself after 35 years of marriage.

Interesting fictional take on the history of Andrew Carnegie‘s philanthropy. Good story of wealth, class, and early industrialization.

Lives are intertwined after they all share in a life changing experience, the “miracle on the Hudson.” While the plane crash serves as a backdrop for this story, it is more about relationships. Loving through the hard stuff, accepting oneself and others, and being brutally honest with yourself and those you love, even when it‘s difficult. I loved the symbolism of the birds woven throughout the story.

Easy enough read, but in places (the last 1/3 of the book) I felt the story dragged a bit, and I‘d lose interest. Lots of storylines woven together. Murder, lost family members, and personal baggage. First in a series. I‘ll read the second one, because I bought it when the first was so highly recommended. From there on out, we‘ll see! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Good story based on a photo the author had seen from the 1940‘s. Families fell on hard times, and in order to feed their families some took drastic, unheard of measures. Worth a read.

I was a bit intimidated by the size of this book, but after just a few pages I am so intrigued and enthralled by President Bush and his life. Even at 18, where his letter writing begins, he seemed to be wise, and moral, and kind beyond his years.

Starting the weekend with a bit of Margaret Atwood. This quote takes me right back to my grandparents house in the late ‘60s. Beautiful writing.

I loved Sarah‘s Key. That being said, I had high hopes for another deRosnay novel. This one missed the mark, and I almost never pan a book. I skimmed the last 20% when I thought the storylines would all tie neatly together, but they just didn‘t. The entire book just felt like it had way too much going on to do justice to any one of its storylines. I couldn‘t get attached to the characters, or their dysfunctional lives. #netgalley #litsyatoz2019

This is a book that becomes a part of you. Such beautiful storytelling, mysterious depths of character, and vivid symbolism make this a story I would read again and again for fear I may have missed something. I can‘t rate it highly enough.

Such fabulous holiday reads, without being sticky-sweet. I read the entire 4-book series this week and it was perfect for the busyness of the holidays. Nothing you couldn‘t put down and easily come back to later, but so good that you wish the party ended just a bit sooner. (I‘ve already returned book 1 (Winter Street) to the library.

Couldn‘t sleep last night so I started this book. Thanks to Mr. Patterson for keeping me up the rest of the night, finishing his story. You just can‘t go wrong with this author.

A fun holiday murder mystery. Interesting, although not all likeable characters. Almost made me late for an appointment this morning as I was snuggled up in bed reading it.

Wine and popcorn for supper, and reading this. So hard to wrap my brain around the fact that these folks manage to remain so isolated (and brainwashed) in today‘s world.

Perfect backstory for the Marilla we all know and love.

Library hold in today!!! In love with it after the first chapter. The entire “Anne” series is an oft read favorite.

I picked this book up because of the reviews, and as the storyline went it was a good story. I felt, however, that it jumped ahead in places without enough backstory, and in other places dragged on with too many tedious details.

Cyberterrorists, traitors, assassination attempts....who to trust? Written with acute knowledge of Presidential protocol, this book hits the mark. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟. 5/5 is a rare gift from me....typically reserved for Patterson novels and the way they make me read way past my bedtime.

Debbie Macomber has such a way with making everything merry and bright. I love reading her holiday stories, and this one was no exception. Simple and enjoyable.

Good story. It took awhile to unravel, but in the end a good read. Great characters.
