I am liking this pick as my first book for Spooktober! The premise is loosely based on Christie's "And Then There Were None" but with a YA and modern spin!

I am not sure I have the words for this book. I love it so much. Loup as a main character was so unique and wonderful. The fact that what happens in this book in regards to the Outpost and America is a scary possibility these days makes this book even more relevant. I love the writing style which reminded me v. much of Isabella Allende. 10/10. One of my favorite reads of he year. ❤️❤️❤️

I loved this! The writing is fun and engaging. I really enjoyed all the characters (Beatrice is my favorite). Goss' use of different literary characters is genius. I did feel that for a book that was quietly but steadily told in a feminist voice, I did not like Mary's romantic undertone with a character mostly because I felt she reacted in a silly way when dealing with it. But otherwise it was perfect!

Fierce female characters, genetically altered humans, POC representation, government conspiracies, and a masked vigilante aka Zorro but female all written in the vein of Isabella Allende. This book is in my wheel barrow for sure!

I cannot express how moving and wonderful this book is. I cried my way through the last quarter. Herring Blake writes such realistic emotions that young people go through. She makes you feel as if it is you that is living them. As a queer woman, I am so happy to see books and authors that strive to show reflections of diverse characters and LGBTQA representation for our children and young adults. I highly 10/10 recommend.

*squeal squeal*

While this wasn't quite as insanely enthralling as "The Last of August" it was so so great I loved the change in narrative where every other chapter alternates character POV. Cavallaro did an amazing job with that. I adore Charlotte\Jamie and root more for them with each book. ❤❤❤

I enjoyed this collection quite a lot. Not as much as "A Tyranny of Petticoats" but it had some really fantastic representation and I really enjoyed the stories with magical realism.

I loved this so much. It was so messed up but awesome. I adore Charlotte/Jamie and their relationship gives me so many feels. So. Many. Feels. Having Charlotte's POV in part of this was a great way to go and her voice was exactly what I imagined it would be. Cavallaro's writing really draws you in.

Guys! Guys! I finished it!!! Omg I am so thrilled about this. I have many feels about Mr. John Thornton. I just feel really accomplished because this book took me months to finish.

Nothing to do with the narrative, I found Gaskell easier to read than early Austen for me, but the formatting and tiny text made it physically impossible for my eyes so I had to read it in small doses. Really great though!

Three words: Whimsical. Quirky. Magical. I really enjoyed this book. Magical realism is so fascinating to me. Josey was an endearing and lovely MC and you wanted her to find happiness. Chloe was a lost and interesting girl that you wanted to hug. Della Lee was a hilarious and made you laugh a lot. Definitely recommend.

How to Make a Wish | Ashley Herring Blake
Pickpick

The narrative that is woven into this book is moving, funny, feels very real and gives a voice to people who have none. I find that it is almost impossible to find media that reflects my sexuality. I love that Grace is bisexual. The love story is tender but the book's focus is on Grace's relationship with her abusive mother which has nothing to do with Grace's sexuality. Blake weaves a hopeful story about growing up and learning your worth.

I adore this short story collection so much! I discovered PD James fairly recently and have liked her detective series. But oh my I loooved her writing in this book of shorts. I especially recommend "The Girl Who Loved Graveyards." The prose is hauntingly beautiful and the story leaves you a little gutted but slightly terrified. 10/10 recommend.

As a conclusion to a series, it was solid in the way Vandermeer managed to take four different perspectives and make them work together effortlessly in the narrative. I had hoped for more of an answer to the question of what was happening but leaving us with questions fits more I suppose. The prose as always got your attention and made it hard to put the book down.

Ortberg kills it in this short story series of retold/rebooted fairy tale classics and myths. Their writing feels so visceral at times. There were a few moments were I as a reader was genuinely disturbed but it was never unnecessary. I really loved this and read it in a day.

Ortberg is simply an amazing writer. I laughed so many times while reading this. I adored how they completely called out all the problematic situations and attitudes in so many works and made THAT a wonderful part of the humor of this book.

It has been many, many years since I have read any kind of romance novel that did not involve a supernatural element and even longer since I read a historical romance. I had heard great things about MacLean so I decided to give it a try and I am glad I did.

Ms. MacLean embodies her characters with such humor and both the female and male characters are given some lovely depths. It feels very modern for a historical novel and I enjoyed it!

I was a little reluctant to read this since my last attempt at reading a new cozy mystery wasn't great but I am glad I did. I enjoyed this quite a bit though I did not LOVE it but the characters have potential and the actual conclusion did surprise me a little.

I liked the voice of the main character Charlie, his cat and the fact he is a retired librarian. I will definitely continue on with this series.

I wanted to catch up with some of the books I read since I started this account that I never uploaded so I am going to start with this one.

I am not sure if it is the time this book was written but I found very little I really liked about this book and A LOT I found problematic from the stereotypes about LGBTA + people to the body shaming the main character consistently did to herself, it just was not entertaining.

This book is fantastic! It's a YA short story collection that features strong, fierce, amazing female characters in fictional stories that span from the 18th century to the 1960‘s. Sometimes heart breaking, sometimes funny and sometimes scary, it is feminism at its finest and truest form. Many of the stories are based on historical events and even people as well as myths and legends. Seriously, if you get a chance to pick it up, please do!
