It took me Christmas Day and then Boxing Day to finish my #Jolabokaflodswap book. But it was the perfect amount of holiday spirit and murderous plots! Loved it! ☠️

Thank you for the perfect book to read on Christmas Eve! Nothing fits the holidays more than some murder mysteries and chocolate!

1] I asked for the tagged book and a few others for the #Jolabokaflodswap
2] I‘ve given books already and planning to give many more! What‘s better than a stack of books?!?! 📚
You‘re it @iread2much and @UwannaPublishme ❤️
This was ok but not as exciting as I hoped for. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I meant to use this for yesterday's prompt, but it somehow slipped my mind. As I mentioned in my review of Horowitz's The Word is Murder, I loved James' Sleep No more. I also love peppermint. One of my fave wintry adult drinks is Rumchata Peppermint Bark. Released a little over a month ago I ran to my local liquor store & picked up a couple of bottles with the distinctive #red design for the long winter ahead. One of the final stories in👇
1) The tagged book. It's the first book that I've read by James. I just read the first two stories & am really liking it so far.
2) Side dishes, especially stuffing & green bean casserole!
3) Tana French's The Likeness & Daphne Du Maurier's Rebecca.

Masterful. Brilliant from the first word to the last. Shocking. Witty. Sly. Dangerous. Surprising. Each story better than the last. This collection of short stories is ALL those things & more. James plumbs the depths of love, revenge, betrayal, & greed—humans at their worst on full display & it‘s delicious & delightful. I can‘t recommend this book enough especially if you like your holidays/family gatherings/life with a side of murder & mayhem.
When life gifts you a 47 degree day in December, you go for a three mile walk & then treat yourself to an espresso, chocolate & a murderous tale or two or six. Not even overcast skies can dampen such a morning! I absolutely love P. D. James & am excited to read some of her short stories. For anyone looking for seasonal reading, two of the stories take place around Christmas—one is even titled ‘The Murder of Santa Claus.‘ 😮 Time to read...
Went to the bookstore to get a couple of books for my niece and walked out with a couple of books for me! 😊 Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky is for my son and I to read. The tagged book is a collection of short stories.
And yes, I did get my niece some books too! ❤️📚❤️
I just realized I didn‘t share all my library pics from yesterday 😱😵 Here are some of the mysteries that I picked up for #Scarathlon. I love having a huge stack to choose from, so I grabbed way more than necessary.... I think I have 35+ books out from the library again. 😅#TeamSlaughter
Three more to go after this one. The Year of P.D. James rolls on. Here is the link to my gr review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2145273799
Somewhere between a pick and so-so, these 6 short stories, while interesting and an easy read, aren‘t quite at the level of PD James series mysteries. Of course, it‘s difficult in a short story to do what James is really good at, which is developing characters and plots. All of these stories have an interesting commonality - but I don‘t want to spoil the stories. Fans of traditional mysteries should enjoy. 3.5/5.0⭐️ #2019
Thanks to my darling daughter for the Jolabokaflod books! We‘ve had a lovely day doing some reading in between running to McD for the hopeful cure all (the cheeseburgers always cured Samia‘s) stomach issues and walking the pacing Bailey. Loving these James‘ shorts. She has been a favorite author of mine. And the ears belong to Scooter who I inherited from my Mom.
So festive for the upcoming holiday season! Except “The Murder Of Santa Claus.” That might put a damper on things.
Loving these six murderous tales from P.D. James. I haven‘t read much James. Any advice for another mystery after this book?
A nice easy to read collection of murder mystery stories from the master P.D.James. Each story has a unique point of view. There‘s the witness, the murderer, the victim. ❤️ it! 🕵️♀️
I adore this short story collection so much! I discovered PD James fairly recently and have liked her detective series. But oh my I loooved her writing in this book of shorts. I especially recommend "The Girl Who Loved Graveyards." The prose is hauntingly beautiful and the story leaves you a little gutted but slightly terrified. 10/10 recommend.
On to better things....I love P. D. James. Great short stories.
One of my all-time favourite authors. This book comprises six murderous tales with dark motives, published together for the first time.

I loved PD James books so when I saw this new collection of short stories, I was pretty excited. This was a fun, quick read but I'd have to say that I prefer her regular length mysteries, especially those titles featuring Adam Dalgliesh.
Time for this one! Getting through the #librarystack 👏🏻🥂
This is just a section of my current #librarystack ... Which needs to be a part of my #bookresolutions this year! It‘s going to be hard, being that I work in a library, but I need to try to keep this stack a tad smaller, so that I quit falling behind on BOTM‘s and such.. 😎🥂 🤞🏻 #readingresolutions @Jess7
this was a christmas present and a perfect christmas read. had never read the baroness before but will definitely be back for more.
My Christmas book haul!
Such a great collection of mystery stories! They were a delight to read each night. Lately I‘ve been more and more drawn to mysteries where the focus isn‘t on who the murderer is, but on why and the events leading up to justice (or not, in some cases). These fit that category perfectly! 🔦🔦🔦🔦
Also, meet Ollie the Owl! I am in love with him!!
#bookandtea
Short horror stories. I liked them. They had an old fashion feel and some fairly predictable twists. But they were fun!
This one looks like a good story! Yes, please.
A new collection of 6 Christmas short tales of murder in P.D. James style- lovely cozy and eerie crime at country homes, schools, all with surprise twists. Get your Agatha Christie fix with this short read for Christmas- I so miss P.D. James and it was nice to have this to read. Also see Mistletoe and Murder!
PD James was a master at mystery and suspense, and these 6 stories perfectly showcase that mastery. Perfect for Agatha Christie fans as well.
#bookhaul Small Business Saturday requires trips to my local #indie bookstore and my favorite used bookstore. Not pictured are the books Mom and I picked out for #ParkRoadBooks‘s Book Tree. I love that they donate books to kids in need.
1. 😂😁😀
2. Harry Bingham, Antonia Hodgson, J K Rowling/Robert Galbraith & P D James
3. Volunteering in Oxfam, don't know what else
4. Only child!

• I've just finished the very short short story collection, Sleep No More by P. D James which is released October 5th by @faberbooks and I have to say it was chilling and eerie and perfectly cosy. ✨#classiccrime #crimefiction #book #booklover #bookstagram #bookblogger #bibliophile #met_createchange
• I've decided to read Sleep No More alongside Queens of the Conquest for the simple reason it's a short story collection and really short. May as well get two birds with one stone right? ✨#classiccrime #crimefiction #book #booklover #bookstagram #bookblogger #bibliophile #met_createchange
• I also got these lovelies from @faberbooks - An English Murder being a surprise that I'm totally excited about! Sleep no more looks and sounds really good and I do enjoy P. D James so I can't wait to start that either! ✨#crimefiction #classiccrime #booklover #booksofinstagram #bookstagram #bookblogger #bibliophile #met_createchange
