Finished reading this book recently and I enjoyed it. This novel brought out so many different emotions for me. At times, I felt anger, heartbreak, compassion, sorrow and much more. A great story following three generations of women and their struggles. 👍

Breaking Night | Liz Murray

Pickpick

Murray is the daughter of drug addicts who died of Aids. They neglected her, scandalously, but loved her in their own hopelessly dysfunctional way. By the age of six she was accustomed to watching her parents shoot up (her mother was almost blind, so her father had to help her do it). She left home at 15 and it was an extraordinary achievement. From homeless to Harvard. #truestory #highlyrecommend #memoir #lifejourney

Mariposa_Bookworm Did you see the Hallmark movie based on her story? It was very good. 4y
maggie_azevedo @Mariposa_Bookworm No, I didn't see that... thank you for letting me know there's a movie based on her story. 4y

🎪 Caraval: Don't hate the player, Hate the game.

A story about two sisters and just how far will each other will go for one another. You're quickly entrenched in the make believe world of trying to decipher who is telling the truth. At times, I felt like I was transported to this magical isle. This isn't a very deep, thought provoking story, but more of a YA romance that inspires magic. A fun lighthearted tale to read and get lost in. 🎪

I highly recommend this book, especially to first generation American women. There was so much in this book I could relate to, simply because I too, was a child of immigrant parents. The book brings to light, coming of age, dealing with grief, comparisons amongst siblings, depression and suicide. So many of these topics are stigmas within many communities. Great read especially for YA. #iamnotyourperfectmexicandaughter

sprainedbrain I absolutely loved this one! 6y

Rachel Hollis did a great job on this book. As a woman, a professional and a mom, it was completely relatable on so many levels... A definite PICK for me.
