This is the most engaging and inspired history book I‘ve ever had the privilege of reading. I couldn‘t put it down. The story he documents is incredibly heartbreaking and an important sequence of events we should all be more aware of. Highly recommend!

This book dragged on and on forever. I don‘t see what the appeal is. I‘ve heard of this book being book club picks and I don‘t get it. I was so bored it took me a year to get through.

CarolynM I get why people love it, but I also completely get why you were bored. I was somewhere in the middle 😆 2y

I loved this and especially the audiobook version. It was paced very well, fast enough to keep me interested but slow enough to develop the characters. I really enjoyed it.

I can‘t think of anything I like about this book other than the cover 😂 In all seriousness, every short story is extremely depressing, so maybe if your life is going really great, you might enjoy the reality check. I personally didn‘t want to think about death for the 2 weeks I spent trudging through this book.

It was more of a personal memoir than what I was expecting, but the stories and experiences she wrote about will definitely stick with me.

Very cool. Kept me guessing. I love how you get to know each of the female characters from the first person perspective. Loved the ending.

I loved this history book. It really took a look at anthropology and philosophy in the context of history and covered such things as religion and morality as well. I really enjoyed it.

Karin Slaughter‘s writing is amazing. This had great character development, great pacing, super intriguing. A bit violent at times for me, but it added to the intensity for sure. I loved it and I‘m looking forward to reading the rest of her books.

Really love her writing style. This was a good read. Gone Girl was better in my opinion.

Beautiful mix of autobiography and life coaching/inspiration. I could re-listen to this several more times. Sooo many good points and perspectives. She values hard work, commitment, and dreaming big!

Very short read for a classic novel (pleasantly surprising). Felt like a short story, but to the point. I would have liked for it to be longer to allow for some more character development.

A cute coming-of-age story. A little slow for my taste but I do like the setting it takes place in.

A little too much detail for my taste, but a good family drama overall. I liked that the story was set in Alaska. That made it unique.

Literally like the first 2/3 of the book seemed totally normal, and then shit just got wild. Sci-fi/fantasy

I liked how this was written a lot, and how you got to hear a first person perspective from both the husband and the wife. Definitely a book I‘d like to read a second time around to catch more of the details as the story unravels.

This book was so eye-opening. I feel like I learned a lot of history I never knew before and it was truly appalling. Not for the faint of heart, but information we should all recognize.
