The cover is fantastic, the writing is brilliant but the plot kinda made me feel like I'm too uncool/old to 'get it'. It's crazy, interesting and unique but I don't know what it all means! Would still read more by Nell Zink though - give me a rec!

I really enjoyed the latter half of this book - gripping adventure but the first half was a bit slow. I wasn't a particular fan of the heroine Emma as she was a bit too perfect. I did quite like the character of Jeremy, as he was more flawed. The setting in the far north of Queensland, Australia is gorgeous.
Now this is what I call a summer sizzler! Light and sparkling as one girl is dumped in Paris only to find exactly what she wanted in friendship and love. The first in a series - can't want for the next (London Bound).
A great book about 3 women in a small Australian country town in the grip of drought. There's pain, heartache and some tense moments but ultimately a happy ending. Well written and always interesting. #australianfiction #aussiefiction #ruralfiction
This was enjoyable, but it wasn't love. The heroine was a bit young and innocent at times, and blind at others. It was a mix of light with some dark themes, which weren't always explored in depth. Can anyone suggest a more enjoyable Paige Toon novel?
It looks deceptively light, but Anthea Hodgson's debut is a talented mediation on life and death. Cate tells the world she's a drifter who can't stick at anything, but when we meet her she's ready to settle. She finds her talents and friends in the most unexpected of areas and the twist is truly intriguing.
When I'm busy, I do enjoy a comfort read. This is the second (& probably last) in the Nurse Connie series, set in late 1940s East End London. I enjoyed the nursing stories and the romance. Occasionally I found it overly detailed- monitoring Connie's every move, but for the most part it was absolutely delightful.
Loved this! A rom-com about an accidental break up has Liv and Adam spiraling off in different directions. The supporting characters are hilarious and loyal. A fun read, great for the holidays! #romanticcomedy
This is laugh out loud funny so far. Normally romantic comedy doesn't actually get me making actual noise laughter but We Were on a Break has it in spades. #fiction #romanticcomedy
Just started Anna Romer's latest, Beyond the Orchard. Lucy is back home in Melbourne, hiding things from her father but it looks like there are a lot of secrets and unfinished business at home too. Very readable so far. #australian
The last third of The Assistants really popped (like the colours in the pic) - plot sped up and we glimpsed more about the characters. It's a like, not a love from me. The idea of The Assistants playing the role of Robin Hood is great, but the execution was a bit muddled. #weekendreads
While the characters in The Assistants aren't really making me feel like I want to be Facebook friends with them, the plot keeps drawing me back in. Fraud and theft under the nose of a Rupert Murdoch type boss can only end badly... #fiction #weekendread
The Family Secret was a fast read but am enjoyable one. We catch up with the main characters of The Saddler Boys, but this story is about Kim and Charlie. Kim's a lonely farmer, Charlie has come to the country to find out more about a decades old secret. There is also a historical plot set during the Vietnam war. I felt sometimes that the 2 plot lines competed against each other, but it was still a great Aussie rural fic. #australian #ruralfiction
So in Ukraine's 2004 election, you could legitimately choose none of the presidential candidates. Wonder why it never caught on...😁
This book is shocking and intense in what human beings will do to each other. It's also an excellent read. Not the best idea to investigate Litsy when I have 70 pages to go!
