This NF book is so cute ! The illustrations are adorable and get readers intrigued. I have linked a website where you can find activities that go with this book. You can use these when discussing the topic of Abraham Lincoln and use other books in your lesson to go along with it. The EL #15 reinforce key ideas to present again and again can go with this lesson by using

juliap99 multiple books on the subjects of Abe Lincoln and slavery. The UDL I chose is 3.1 to activate or supply background knowledge. When using this book this can occur because most of your students have heard of Abe Lincoln. #ucflae3414sp20 5y
Ryan_R I love the animation style of this! Also, you know it should be good if PBS is apart of it! 5y
ValeriaCastaneda23 What a cute way to incorporate history into a children book, I literally adore cute books like this. Great choice 5y
DrSpalding Well these are non-fiction… They are about historical figures so that means it is what genre? This is an excellent series! PBS has turned them into cartoons. Both would be helpful when teaching social studies content to elementary age students. 5y

My daughter loves these books, and I don‘t mind them so much myself. They teach history and good lessons for kids. This was our latest read out loud- we picked it up in Gettysburg this weekend.

Crazeedi I've heard so many good things about this series of books, meltzer is a great writer for children, and his reason for doing these is so awesome 5y

Bookwormjillk @Crazeedi I agree. They send a good message and kids love them. Kids in my daughters class trade them like they‘re baseball cards. 5y

I Am Abraham Lincoln | Brad Meltzer

Abraham Lincoln was a great role model that children all over the world can now learn many lessons from. Lincoln was a wise, kind and compassionate person that cared for the well-being of others.

Genre: Biography
This book tells the story of Abraham Lincoln, starting out when he was a young boy. It depicts many inside details of him: how smart he was as a child, how he loved to read, and just how wise he was at such a young age. The book goes on to tell other milestones in his life as an adult, such as when he helped pass the law to end slavery and ended the civil war.

This cute little B book is great for RA during President‘s Day week or when the Civil War gets introduced to the class. My favorite lines from the book is “Sometimes, the hardest fights don‘t reveal a winner- but they do reveal character. Especially when you‘re fighting for something you believe in” and “All men are created equal.”

Written by New York Times best-selling author Brad Meltzer
Illustrated by Christopher Eliopoulos

ally11301 This is a great book for young children that are starting to learn important US history.

https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/I-Am-Abraham-Lincoln-Interactive-Rea... has great lesson plans and activities for this RA!

The UDL that best fits this book would be 7.2 and the ESOL strategy would be 16.

I am Abraham Lincoln by Brad Meltzer &illustrated by Christopher Eliopoulos is a B PB that is part of the “Ordinary People Change the World" series. These PB have adorable illustrations and a central message in each book based on the bio of the person. It takes us back to when Lincoln was young, & he first stood up & spoke out against something that was wrong. From there, we journey through his life & learn about the impact he had on our country.

SarahWynne https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/I-am-Abraham-Lincoln-Brad-Meltzer-Gu... This link provides a GR lesson that helps promote these strategies... UDL: 7.2 Optimize relevance, value, and authenticity

ESOL: 5. Teach technical vocabulary supporting key concepts 20. List the most important words and phrases you use or plan to use in a presentation on a transparency or on the chalkboard #UCFLAE3414F17

I am Abraham Lincoln by Brad Meltzer, illustrated by Christopher Eliopoulos, is a biographical picture book that‘s perfect for a GR lesson. Students will make text-to-self connections when learning about Abe‘s childhood and his successes as the 16th POTUS. I love this free GR lesson plan based on the book: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/I-am-Abraham-Lincoln-Brad-Meltzer-Gu... #UCFLAE3414F17 #ClassroomLibrary

Tonight it's Abraham Lincoln. She loves learning about American presidents. Of late, a daily saying has been 'what has Trump the dump been up to today?' 😂

One of the things I like most about these books, are the pictures in the back that show the subject in real life. Usually accompanied by an actual quote from that person.
