Progress:
Finished 2 books this week, but I am either in a reading slump or burnt out. I am hoping that tomorrow will fix that. I am looking forward to jumping into ASOAIF again.
I just can‘t do it. 120 pages in and I cannot take the manic, ADD voice of the narrator any longer. At one point, he compares his train of thought and digressions to Russian nesting dolls, but only if there were infinite dolls. Exhausting. And while I really liked his recollections of biblical events, the current day stuff was less intriguing.
I haven‘t had any time to be on Litsy lately and I miss you all so much! I am so super busy with my new job plus trying to keep up with balancing work and home and all that jazz. It‘s great and after an awful year, life is starting to swing up again, but I want to just spend time here too. Anyway, stealing a few minutes of this weird book and coffee before work this morning.
Book 6 of #FreakyFriday from @zeljka
If Bedazzled is a screenplay about a snarky devil granting wishes, I Lucifer is about a snarky devil wishing to write a screenplay.
Funny book. 3 stars for me.

I'm really torn on this book. I loved the language, and the flashes of humor, but the plot was weak and the pacing was choppy. A mixed bag for me, for sure. Perhaps someone with a higher tolerance for philosophical patter and casual depravity would really love this book. I couldn't quite get there.
Lucifer: "ice cream's so delicious and bad for you I can't believe I had nothing to do with its invention."
"...London's oven-baked asphalt and disreputable trees..." ? I'm loving the language of this book, but the story, such as it is... not so much. ?
"The truth is, Hell's okay. Most of the souls at my place just hang around smoking and drinking and chewing the fat. And there's *everything* to read." -- I think I'm going to like this book. ??
Given up on American Psycho!!
Going to give this a try!! Got it from Amazon for 1p.

It's blasphemy if I cared about that stuff, but Lucifer has always been my favorite fictional character. I love him in all sorts of stuff, including, but not limited to the tagged book, Lucifer (tv show & comic), Supernatural, and Constantine (which is one of my favorite movies).

I found it pretty hard to wade through. I liked the flamboyant language, it seemed fitting for that of Lucifer's character, but sometimes it was just too laborious and I found myself losing the meaning of the sentence/paragraph. It jumped a LOT and I seemed to get muddled in the non-necessary side stories a bit too much. I was so eager to read this book, the premise was so appealing but it just didn't thrill me the way I anticipated and hoped.
I read this when it first released in 2007, and I loooooved it. I'm re-reading it now because I was in the mood for an old friend and I still loooooove it. Wry, snarky, philosophical, filthy and smart. Lucifer reigns as one of my favorites (forever!)
I really enjoyed this book, it's written like a memoir by Lucifer, who is talking directly to the reader about his current and past situations. Definitely recommend!
