Pete the Cat and the missing cupcakes is a great F book by Kimberly & James Dean. In this book Pete makes cupcakes for a party he‘s having but they all start disappearing! His friends are then on a mission to help Pete find whose taking his cupcakes. This would be an excellent RA book that could coincide with a math lesson. Throughout the book it starts with 10 cupcakes to 0, counting from twos downward. #ucflae3414f19

cassandram Continued post: Using this method of teaching would support UDL strategy 2.3 by decoding the text through counting. And an ESOL strategy that could be used is #4, linking this read aloud to a math lesson previously learned. A great resource for this book is this YouTube video RA https://youtu.be/9x4HjRaQyWs. It provides students a visual example of the counting and keep students engaged. #ucflae3414f19 5y
DrSpalding Pete the cat, math and a read aloud… These all work beautifully together. You have followed the rubric well and aligned appropriate universal design and English learner strategies. 5y

This book is a MF and I would read as a RT. Love Pete the cat books but this one has a supspensful finish in finding out who stole the cupcakes that Pete and Gus have made for the cupcake party. They find clues but will that help Pete and his friends who took the cupcakes before the party starts? #ucflae3414su19

Stephanie5 UDL : 3.3 and ESOL 42 in order to have a sequence of important things that happen in the book and have some fun and making the cupcakes into the timeline. 5y
Myiab Super cute book! I would definitely use the resource you included with my future students! 5y
Kcompton2912 I loved this book during storytelling! I hunk using realia with real cupcakes and making it a little party right before testing can really benefit students with their stress! 5y
DrSpalding Yes it‘s modern fantasy and yes it could be an excellent reader‘s theater but as Kaitlyn mentioned… It was a good storytelling too.❤️📚 5y

This MF book is about the famous Pete the Cat! It would make for a great RA or S for younger readers. In this adventure Pete makes cupcakes for a party but notices that the cupcakes go missing. He and Gus start noticing clues left behind as to who took them, and they go about asking their friends. In the end, after a friendly conversation there‘s enough cupcakes for everyone! #UCFLAE3414SU19

DawnS There‘s great resources on the Pete the Cat website like this word search: http://www.petethecatbooks.com/activities/petes-wild-word-search/ This could tie in nicely to a math lesson or even our classrooms own cupcake party. This book combined with the right questioning through RA would meet UDL 2.3 decoding of text, mathematical notation, and symbols. EL strategy 22: giving ELLs enough wait time to respond to questions. 5y
DrSpalding This absolutely could make for a wonderful math lesson and who doesn‘t love cupcakes? Nice alignment and as we have seen, read aloud or storytelling works well. 5y

LaGasseSam1996 Pete the Cat and the Missing Cupcakes is by Kimberly and James Dean. This book is a F book. This book would be a good RA book. You can use this book to help students with counting as the cupcakes disappear. (edited) 6y
LaGasseSam1996 The ESOL strategy I like best with this book is 4. You can link a lot of this book with things students already know; like cupcakes or counting. 6y
LaGasseSam1996 You can use 1.2 as the UDL strategy because the pictures create an alternative to just visual learning 6y
LaGasseSam1996 https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Pete-the-Cat-and-the-Missing-Cupcake... in this post it allows students to practice their math skills bringing the read aloud into other subjects other then just English. 6y
DrSpalding What an awesome image! This would be a fun storytelling as well. These books are meant to be read aloud/sing aloud. Look to the publishers website for the high-quality resource that includes audio/video support. 6y

#Zeek wanted me to make a Pete the Cat cake for his birthday. Well my cakes didn‘t come out because I was running out of time and stressing out. So, with the help of the grocery store and Barnes and Nobles I created this. I hope he likes it. I can‘t believe my baby boy is 6!

A fun Animal Fantasy book, TS's include S, AS, RT, GR and CR. The book goes through the day of Pete's adventure of figuring out who keeps stealing the cupcakes for the cupcake party. With clues of who keeps stealing the cupcakes, Pete will eventually discover the culprit behind this. This story is great for younger children, and has some counting elements to it.

JordanL https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/lesson-plans/teaching-content/henrys-freedom... Scholastic provides great resource for a variety of lessons, with sequencing, match, etc. UDL strategy 3.3 would benefit greatly as the students will see the clues and allowing them to build inferences. ESOL strategy 7 would also allow ELL's to map out the events for the story. #UCFLAE3414SP18 7y

I loved this F story about Pete the cat solving the mystery of who ate the missing cupcakes. The moral of the story is forgiveness and I love that for kids. It's colorful and rhymes, making it an engaging read. I'll be reading more Pete the Cat stories after this one. Check out Pete the Cat's website for some videos to go along with the books http://www.petethecatbooks.com #UCFLAE3414SU17

Jerricajay This book is in my "to read" pile! I love the morals Pete the cat instills into young readers. I instantly fell in love with Pete in his white shoes, I can't wait to love him even more after I read this one! 7y
DrSpalding Wonderful! This could also be used in a math lesson as the cupcakes go missing… That's subtraction! Excellent resource added. Litwin loves to sing and play 🎸 which children enjoy! 7y

I really love Pete the Cat, I do. He's so cute and he's so cool, but as these stories are cranked out, they have lost their charm. Pete's not all that cool any more (Magic Sunglasses is the last time he was in my opinion), the rhymes and songs are clunky, and the stories seem forced. :( I still love him, but I miss Four Groovy Buttons Pete. Maybe the Deans can re-read the Litwin-penned books for inspiration?

This Pete the Cat F book is geared towards K-2 students, with many exciting rhymes and use of capitalized phrases. In this book, Pete and his friend Gus try to find out who is stealing the cupcakes by looking at clues. There are many Pete the Cat book activities on this website http://www.petethecatbooks.com/activities/petes-cool-cupcakes/ #UCFLAE3414sp17

CharlotteG I love Pete the Cat! My favorite part about Pete the Car books is that they can help with counting strategies!! 8y
christinathorpe I love Pete the Cat as well! I think hands on activities, especially in the younger grades, is important for students to comprehend and apply what they know. 8y
Alisoncavicchi This class was actually the first time I heard of Pete the Cat (shocking I know), but he has already come up in my RED and EDG4410 classes as well. Definitely an excellent set of books to add to our classroom libraries 8y
