The Bedwetter
The Bedwetter: Stories of Courage, Redemption, and Pee | Sarah Silverman
17 posts | 58 read | 27 to read
From the outrageously filthy and oddly innocent comedienne and star of the powerful 2015 film I Smile Back Sarah Silverman comes a memoirher first bookthat is at once shockingly personal, surprisingly poignant, and still pee-in-your-pants funny. If you like Sarahs television show The Sarah Silverman Program, or memoirs such as Chelsea Handlers Are You There Vodka? Its Me Chelsea and Artie Langes Too Fat to Fish, youll love The Bedwetter.

⭐⭐⚡
I like Sarah Silverman. She gained bonus points when she did a song with my favourite band, Walk off the Earth (a cover of Video Killed the Radio Star). The book started out good, with some stories from her childhood and adolescence. Later stories about her career veered into pretty much just telling the reader about how great each of her friends are. Which is nice, just not interesting to me.🤷‍♀️

Laugh out loud funny — but maybe don‘t listen to it out loud at work like I did! 🙈😅 Thankfully I work alone on overnights — but still... she says vagina A LOT. 😝 #marchunshelfing

MemoirsForMe Oh I need to read this. 😆 5y

Starting the first book off my bookshelf for #MarchUnshelfing. I‘ll be tackling this one by listening to the audiobook while I tackle my reports at work tonight, and then finishing it off by reading my physical copy.

I audiobooked this one. It was okay. I was expecting more funny than I got. I had such hopes for the metaphorical language & meta, but I did enjoy a large handful of good laughs. Trigger warning for some hate language, which she defends in the book, but that this subjective listener was offended by. I don't doubt her intentions, but I do question her in-defence logic. Sarah's youth was too similar to my own privileged one for me to learn anything.

Jess7 I really like her so I‘m stacking this one! 7y
Graywacke Wasn‘t surprised by your description, seems to me she is always exactly that way. Very interesting last sentence. 7y
RaimeyGallant @Jess7 I don't blame you. I have so much respect for her in a lot of ways. 7y

RaimeyGallant @AJGROVER Hi! I don't use insta enough to know what an ID is unless it's the same thing as a handle, in which case, it's the same as here. :) And welcome to Litsy! (edited) 7y

For my very first #audiobook, I've decided to give #AudioIroning a go. Risky, I know, but I like to live dangerously.

peacegypsy 😂 7y
Bookmarkie I'm impressed by anyone that irons. 7y
AmyG I audio iron. I oddly love laundry and ironing. A past life, perhaps?😝 (edited) 7y

ErinGoBragh1011 My way of ironing consists of throwing a wet towel in with the shirt/pants and putting ot on high for 30mins-1hr lol 7y
Lcsmcat I used to iron my husband‘s tux shirts and my daughter‘s friend would stand and watch because she‘d never seen it done before. 7y
RaimeyGallant @ErinGoBragh1011 Me too! This is for my dad. Taking on extra duties since my mom broke her ankle. 7y
RaimeyGallant @Lcsmcat Hilarious. Next, show them the rewind button on a vcr, so they know where the word came from. ;) 7y
Graywacke If only it auto-ironed. 7y
Megabooks 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 kudos to you for ironing! 7y
ReadingRuby I hope you enjoyed it! I love audiobooks for doing chores 7y

I really enjoyed this book. The audiobook was narrated by Sarah Silverman, so any fan of hers should make a point of listening. The only problem I had with this is the various loving anecdotes about Louis CK and Al Franken. This book was published years before the current sexual assault allegations, so now certain parts of this book take on a darker connotation. They are not a major fixture in the book though, so if you love Sarah, check it out.

This was not my usual fare. It was funny, but I struggled to get through it. I started in February, put it down in March, and just finished it in the last two days. Eh...

There were parts of this book that were genuinely funny. I was very surprised by how open and honest Sarah was in discussing some of her personal struggles. The reason I gave this a so-so rating is because the author continually used the word "retarded" as a descriptor for things silly, foolish, etc... One time would have been bad enough, but she did it many times. I think an intelligent adult should know better.

RanaElizabeth Or an intelligent editor and publisher. No excuse for using that word. 8y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Yea, it wasn't my favorite either and I went through a slew of comedian bios books last year...oddly the more famous for comedy ones Sarah's, Mindy Kaling, Tina Fey's I found just ok.... but I really liked Leah Remini's, Aisha Tyler's, and Felicia Day's. It's just so individual. 8y
Megabooks I really dislike her. 8y

Funny but definitely not for everyone. If you know her comedy, this is a funny quick read/listen. 🙃

Just a few of my favorite funny ladies and their memoirs for today's #augustphotochallenge #day19 #favefunnybooks

Varshitha I need to get to Amy Poehler and Mindy Kaling's memoir 8y
razmanda @Varshitha I loved them both. Mindy has a new one out, too, but the first one was better in my opinion. Worth reading, though! 8y
